I expect neg ratings and maybe this is emotion talking but...

Anyone else feeling like they have been conned by Jose's PR charm offensive?

Laid bare, we seemingly benefited from the classic new manager bounce but reality is we haven't played well in any game aside from Burnley.

I felt like Jose was brought in for the big occasions yet against both United and Chelsea we looked arguably worse than ever.

I get possession isn't always effective and under Poch it at times felt pointless but it feels like we have gone to the other extreme.

I genuinely can't remember one period of sustained pressure in any match under Jose.

I'm hoping it will come good but can't say I'm filled with much confidence, he is seemingly not learning from his mistakes which was the downfall of Poch.

Great post couldn't agree more.

If you thinking buying new players would suddenly make us better you're deluded. The players on the pitch were more than good enough to win this game. I think tactically we respected Chelsea too much and mentally we were not at it at all.
So your happy with Aurier then? The players are not good enough. No Spurs player was more than a 5/10. We were at home and we didn’t lay a glove on them and this is not a good Chelsea side. It was not even close, man for man we were outplayed.

Mental isn't it. We haven't had a right side of defence this poor since the days of Chimbonda and Hutton, we have central midfielders who are either chronically unfit, still adapting to the league, want to leave or are not good enough on the ball.

Upgrades are needed ASAGDMFP.
Chimbo? He was great for us at the beginning.

I have to admit that I hadn't noticed too much til today (or perhaps didn't want this as an easy cop-out excuse), but I am starting to think the fitness of the players is a massive issue.

My suspicion is that it's a combination of tired legs / broken bodies from Poch's training regime and lack of rotations, put alongside a lack of care for Poch over the summer when things went sour and thus a lack of effort in preseason fitness training. Regardless of what it is, there is no doubt our energy levels, pressing, and overall movement is miles off what it was a couple years ago and is leading to all the problems we see on the pitch now.

I think the most striking instances of it today were around the 75th-90th minutes, where Danny Rose was forced to try and tug down Mason Mount as he sprinted past him...this is the same Mason Mount who had put in an unbelievable effort all afternoon and had to be more tired than the newly subbed-on Rose. Same thing happened minutes later with Kante speeding past Ndombele. I know that Rose/Ndombele have had their fitness issues this season, so perhaps not the best individual examples from our end, but overall our team is just outworked and looks off the pace the large majority of games we play this year. Even last week, Wolves were all over us for the better part of the match.

The only player today who looked capable of making lung bursting runs was Davinson.

Anyone else picked up on this?

I know it's very American to get outraged and overreact with lack of information but noone even knows if that means it's still happening or just standard proceedure.
You may want to hold off on your generalizations. I am American and completely agree with your sentiment

What a dark day for our club, embarrassed by everything associated with Spurs today, the performance, the mentality, the sending off and that's before you get to the racist incident and the fans throwing stuff at their keeper.

Amazingly the racist incident seems to be head line news which will probably ignore the utter inept performance but it needs to be addressed, quickly.

Chimbo? He was great for us at the beginning.
The Jol/Ramos season and the first 'Arry season was pretty bad.

And anyway, my point still stands. He was just about good enough for a side that scraped 5th the first season he was with us, and lost 12 league games. That is not good enough for where we want to be now.

I could go even further back and say they're the worst right side of defence since Dean Austin, if you'd like.

I feel we urgently need to change to 4-3-3, our formation now is just too predictable. Fat Frank knew what we were going to do even before we kicked the ball.

"this happened so rarely pre-2016 " Seriously?? What about all the West Ham and Chelsea fans making hissing noises at Tottenham every chance they got over the last decade or so?

The country may be divided politically, but this is down to fucking morons doing fucking moronic shit, nothing else. Emboldened by the referendum my arse, that's just making excuses for **** behavior, like a different result would have meant anything to these people. Give me a break.

that is different for me because it’s always been there year and year and isn’t aimed at any player but rather at the club/fans. Don’t get me wrong it’s sickening. Aiming racist comments/monkey chants at players seems to have been happening far too often recently. its not something we’ve witnessed for a while. I’ve heard comments between fans in the stands but not directed to the actual players so they see/hear it.

no one is saying the referendum made people racist or everyone who voted leave are racist. It did however embolden those who are racist and give them a message to rally behind. Britain First, EDL, UKIP.

A fit Lamela would have been useful for us today. At least he would be kicking the sh*t out of those Chelsea players, if nothing more.

Wonder if Toby is now regretting signing that new contract :cautious:
Yeah because he signed it under the pretence we'd win the rest of our remaining games this season and the next and the next etc until his contract is up.

We were bad but been way worse previous this season. If not for Gazza's fly kick and Son's desire to kick Rudiger we could have gotten something. Not much to do when players sabotage the team to such an extent.

Not for you per se, but does anyone honestly believe Mourinho does not think we need to sign players or would have come to Tottenham if he could not sign players short term or long term?

Well Levy seemed to imply this was the case in the interview he gave to the standard this week.

Without looking for article I'm pretty sure he said something along the line that Jose was happy with the squad and didn't feel there was a need to spend a lot of money on improving it..

Christ are we doing politics here? The fact of the matter is that if you are a racist yer a fucking idiot. We are all equal and the same no matter what. As a club and a supporter it's actually very embarrassing. The people responsible have let us all down with their views. Hopefully they will be found and banned as there is no excuse what so ever!!!

And for the record I meant fans, players and staff. Can only imagine how their players and our own must be feeling.

Poor day all around.

Players looked like they didn't have it.

Jose was out coached from the outset and just had no answer.

Absolutely shameful display by our "supporters" throwing objects at the CFC keeper. Even more shameful is the racial abuse that our supporters hurled at a player. Fucking shameful.

Jose is meant to be a world class manager and he has earnt it. However most all of us on here understand that Dier and Sissoko in midfield is just not a viable plan for how we like to play football. He seems hellbent on continuing his hard on for Dier and I just don’t understand it.

If a player is hooked after 29mins and then after 45 mins within the space of 5 odd games it means either the manager is making the same mistakes or the player is performing poorly.

NDombele might be out of shape but he has the potential and ability to be world class and to not play him boggles my mind.
