People in here called it a cramp, but I think he pulled his hammy a little in the quarter final.
Such a weird thing to call from the outside looking in. I hope you don't give medical advice online too.

Well I've seen both cramps and hamstring injuries on the television before. To me it looked more like a hamstring injury than a cramp. But hey, who am I? If the online community says it's a cramp it 100% is.

But did you hear the hamstring tearing though

I just think it's something pointless to speculate on in all honesty

I do think the Brighton game this weekend is too soon for both Sonny and Biss. But as of next week we could be lining up as follows:

Vic
Porro, Romero, Vdv, Udogie
Sarr, Maddison, Biss
Kulu, Richy, Sonny

And with a bench of:

Foster, Royal, Drago, Davies, Bents, PEH, Werner, Skipp / BJ, Scarlett.

How friggin good is that!!!

Bentancur has been very out of form and doesn't look fit. Perhaps we start Hojbjerg, who has been pretty solid, then bring in Bissouma and/or Bentancur later in the match, as they can hopefully give us 30ish good minutes, but probably not 60-100 mins at the moment. Bringing those two on, along with Son, would be massive. Picking an (almost fully) fit team to start, and then having perhaps even better players on 2nd half.

With Sarr's energy, and the creativity of Maddison and Kulusevski, one would hope that provides enough balance that Hojbjerg can play to his strengths and not have his system-related shortcomings exposed.

Nice problem to have. This is by far the strongest looking match day squad we've had all season, and it should get even stronger once Son, Bissouma and Bentancur develop match fitness (Deki and Madders too, as they're also both still building up).

Starters

(Italics - could swap, depending on match fitness / travel fatigue / malaria etc...)

___________Vicario
Porro___ Romero_ Van de Ven__ Udogie
_________ Hojbjerg
_____Sarr________ Maddison
Kulusevski__ Richarlison ____ Werner

Subs:
Forster,
Dragusin, Royal, Davies,
Skipp, Bentancur, Bissouma,
Johnson, Son

Also available:
Gil, Scarlett, Austin
Donley, Santiago

Out?
Lo Celso, Solomon, Sessegnon,

I think we have to keep playing Bentancur to get him minutes in his legs. It's the only way he is going to get match fit and back into form.

Yep, not against that at all. Just wonder if he's had to play more minutes than ideal, post-injury, due to the absences of Sarr, Bissouma and Maddison, and that stepping back the mins now might be for the best. By no means a physiology expert though. Maybe playing more and building up the conditioning is what we need. Either way, a (hopefully fully fit) Pape starting will be a big help, whether alongside Pierre or Lolo.

I wonder if it’s the same people week after week after week that predict we’ll lose in the poll above.

Is Biss likely to start? We’ve been missing him at 6. Even though he dropped off a bit from the early season exceptional performances, he’s still by far the best we have there.

It's really hard to tell how the malaria impacted him. He looks good in the latest video of him dancing around. I doubt he has a full match in him yet though. I would start Bentancur with Sarr and see how it goes. We've missed him but more so with Hojbjerg as the 6 and no Sarr I think. Having Sarr back and Bentancur as the 6 should be good.

I wouldn’t be pinning my hopes on bissouma tbh. Other than the first 5/6 games he’s looked pretty poor. And on top of that he’s been ill. Didn’t get a lot of game time away either.

I feel this game has massive importance to the context of our season and how the run in could evolve.
We win this and West Ham don’t beat Arsenal we’ll be at least 10 points clear of 7th place so very much looking like a ‘Top 6’ breakaway this season battling for 5 champions league spots.
We draw or worse lose we get dragged closer to the chasing pack behind us.

Brighton similar to us play open and attacking football but give up chances to opposition and leave themselves vulnerable at the back, we must exploit that better than they do.
They’re missing a few players, notably in wide areas Adringa, March, Mitoma who might make the bench.

We win this and we kick on for the rest of the season, COYS!!!!!!

I can understand for the Brighton game if it goes pear shaped that it will be Sonny, Biss and Sarr still tired but thereafter with most of our players back fit and only one game per week - save for the re-arranged Chelsea game, there is opportunity to rest and can be no more excuses. So yes - 3 points Saturday should set us up for the run in.

Yes definitely

This game feels like there’s huge importance to the outcome of the season
