Just got back home. Absolutely dreadful performance.

Devoid of all ideas.

Bye bye Conte. Take your brand of snooze fest football with you.

Sanchez for Kulu will go down in the annals. Gave me my biggest laugh of the night.

Majority of teams have realised we have next to zero possession game so if they just sit back all we can do is spam crosses against them.

They also know the patterns we do have are ultra basic. It usually goes through Kane so just mark him tightly etc. I stopped counting for the second half, but half a dozen times first half Milan let eg. Son or Kulusevski drop into the pocket and just gambled they were going to turn the ball around the corner, and low and behold they predicted right and got the ball back.

We're alright if the game is stretched, we can transition, and attack space. Otherwise we're a fairly useless football team. Defensively as well, it's either deep rigid 5-4-1 block or we're leaky as hell. Teams know all this, they've adjusted.
Earlier in the season I felt like we were just lacking a bit of spark and Conte was just adjusting a few things.

But it's become especially clear since the WC break that Conte lacks any idea other than what you stated.

A more dynamic coach would have benched Son and used Danjuma in a different way to create more dynamism.

He would have stopped just replacing players like for like and gone to 3 in midfield or 4 at the back and looked to work in different patterns.

The only tweak Ive noted since beginning of season is Emerson coming inside to allow Kulsevski space to roam.

Yet, even that hasn't brought much joy because when Kulusevski gets there he's got 2 to aim at in the penalty area, one in the edge and one on the far side.

There has been a serious lack of adding layers to his system.

I'm not like others and saying Conte needs to totally abondon his methods because that's what has made him succesful.

BUT he has to add some new layers and patterns of play. Most coaches have their 'base' system and then they add stuff as they encounter problems.

Conte has seemingly just subbed players like for like and hoped the others can do it better.

Totally appalling.

I am also starting to think the reason we looked so good back end of last season is because we'd been horrendously bad prior to Deki and Bentancur coming in and it played right into Conte's system.

Other teams hadn't understood it. Now they have.

I think that Chelsea game at start of season would have been every team's blueprint.

Shut down Kane's movement and press them high. Make sure Kulusevski has 2 blocking his route out wide and push Son back.

Not a lot to change there to combat it.

The fans singing for Pochettino at the stadium tonight should be ashamed of themselves.
I think they are wrong to want him back but I can fully understand it.

It's probably the frustration that we are totally disconnected and kust wanna go back to good times

Id settle for just solving a couple of our problems to be fair and get Poch back. Best of a bad situation. Anything’s better than this

what is required to solve ALL of our problems won’t happen and isn’t an option. Doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to be somewhat better in some ways as uninspiring as that is
Yeah I get that, the issue for me is that levy will bring back poch and all will be forgiven by most fans.
When are people going to realise that the issue is not the manager. We have had 2 managers that have won things everywhere they go except for Tottenham Hotspur. I hope I’m wrong but I can’t see anything changing by bringing poch back. I’m a massive poch fan but if you really have to bring him back do in 5 years time, as things stand half the players who didn’t play for him and got him sacked are still here

I went (admittedly not been to many games this season), and whilst I didnt sing for Poch, as much as he is my preferred option, - bollocks should the fans be ashamed. They went to the game, in the freezing cold, having spent their hard earned money in the all after a tough day at work using shitty transport - they didnt exactly sing it loud and proud in the stadium - it was in the concourses.

But it is alright for Conte to big up other clubs right AC Milan, Chelsea previously etc etc etc? bollocks should the fans be ashamed.

Why should they be ashamed what a pathetic statement we all have the right to vent our opinion. We pay top dollar to watch that shit so yes they should have the right, who the fuck are you to say they cant!! Obviously a happy clapper, and bringing back Poch would massively be the answer because a least we would have youth and playing football properly once again!! Wow im ashamed of you
honestly don’t know what to say to this, who said I was ashamed of anything, were you even at the game tonight? What are you even talking about and what is your point exactly?

You may be right in general terms but tonight is 100% on the manager.

Poch took the team as far as he could. He did the same at Southampton, drastically improved a poor team, who did well for a few years but with no more improvement after that, followed by a decline. Went to France to a team at their peak and couldn’t improve on what they already had and the decline came earlier.

Imagine starting a response "Honey" on a message board for adults.

Lloris - Likely leaving end of the season
Lucas - Leaving at the end of the seaso
Dier - Squad option next season
Davies - Squad option next season
Sanchez - Woeful to be fair
Son - Class when played correctly
Kane - GOAT

7 of 25 man squad. 2 of which are top class. This argument needs to get in the bin.

Idealism v Realism. Levy is not going. l anywhere. We can’t do anything about that. So the reality is it’s a case of who is the best option to work under Levy it’s as simple
As that.

Even with the rigid formation we have, the players have to take some of the blame, everything was done in slow motion, the passing was so slow. The couple of times when we moved the ball quickly, we created chances. But time and again the slow playing out from the back allowed them to organise their defence. We continued to attack at walking pace.

Yes I’m not debating that at all. And I’m definitely not saying conte is the answer to our problems especially after tonight. I just don’t think poch is either as much as I love him 😁

Sixty seven years old and I don’t think I will see another trophy win for us - or at least be in a position to remember/ enjoy it, sadly.

Yes that is a good point to be fair. I agree levy isn’t going anywhere and we have to live with that, but I think he gets off far too lightly, people are quick to turn on the manager when they should be directing their frustration at the board imo. And trust me I’m not defending conte here, tonight’s performance was pathetic and I’m massively frustrated by it
