Lovely to read. Our fans as a base are happiest with our squad in terms of positions and cover, says the BBC:

The 'happiest' fans
Spurs fans are unique in not having concerns over a single position. At every other club at least one position got approval from fewer than 75% of fans, but at Spurs at least 80% of fans were happy with every slot.

Six positions in the Spurs XI were given the thumbs up by upwards of 90% of fans, the joint most along with Manchester City, Manchester United and Middlesbrough.

At the Manchester clubs, the only concerns were in full-back positions. Only 57% of United fans felt happy with the options at right-back, contrasting with 95% satisfied with left-back. At City, both full-back positions appeared to be a cause for concern, only 62% happy with right-back and 58% with left-back.

Boro fans showed their delight with the defence - the goalkeeper and back four all deemed fine by at least 90% of fans - but there were concerns over three positions further forward.

Chelsea fans were delighted with five positions and only had concerns over one - again at right-back - while Arsenal fans rated five positions at above 90%, but had concerns over two - left-back and centre-forward.

Uhh we're short cover for Dembele, without whom we are shit. And we're still stuck without competition for an extremely talented yet beyond extremely complacent Christian Eriksen. 2 things we absolutely desperately needed. Yet we signed a powerful winger for £30m due to an international tournament after he's been absolute shit for Newcastle! I feel the same way about the team as I did last year. Amnoyed that dear leader left us short yet again by waiting to go in for anyone until it was way too late to get a replacement if we were rejected.

Sissoko IS the cover for Dembele, as he's more box-to-box than right winger.

I cant think of a single player who moved in the transfer window who would be adequate cover for Dembele. You dont just pull players with his skill set out of thin air.

Love to hear your suggestion as to who that should have been.

Wanyama and to a degree Sissoko operate in a similar position.

Sissoko is pretty close anyway, IMO. Not saying he's as good but he can definitely play that box to box role alongside Dier or Wanyama. Also, seeing as Poch has already confirmed this, he can cover Lamela/eriksen as well.

For what was available, and who'd be willing to come to us, Sissoko is a good addition. Overpriced for sure but a good addition nonetheless, IMHO

That survey was flawed as the question(s) it asked was somewhat ambiguous.

The question asked fans to put a tick or a cross against each position in the team's starting line-up. Therefore it wasn't clear whether it was asking whether you were happy with the first choice player in each position or the depth in each position. As the original question was "How happy are you with your club's squad?" I put a cross where I wasn't happy with depth, but I can imagine the majority of users only considered the strongest starting XI as that's what the functionality of the survey leant itself to.

As usual the BBC came up with a good idea but then executed it badly. As a result, apart from Liverpool's fans not being happy with their left-back options, the rest of the results are completely flawed and probably somewhat skewed.

Not proof but certainly precedent.

We were interested in Sissoko back in Harrys days when he famously scoffed at the £20m asking price. Back then he was part of a very interesting CM2 with Etienne Capoue. At the time Capoue was the sitter and, for the French league, a very good one. Sissoko was allowed to break forward and made quite a name for himself. He obviously isn't one for ball retention so he certainly isn't like-for-like with Dembele but he does know how to work in tandem with a sitting midfielder and carries the ball forward well.

Dembele improved immeasurably with Poch since his arrival, mainly in the art of knowing why and when to release the ball. In my mind SIssoko has the potential to be very good if he can learn the very same lessons.

The BIG difference between the two is work-rate but I'm happy to give Sissoko the benefit of the doubt as I'm pretty sure no one at Newcastle had any idea what to do when not in possession.

Sissoko hasn't had to work for a place in the team yet since he's been in the EPL. Let's see what our uniquely competitive environment does for him?

It's genuinely hard to look at our squad and say you are 'unhappy' with it.

As with any squad, there are areas that could be improved, but that doesn't mean we aren't pretty much covered with quality in every position.

GK x2
LB x2
RB x2
CB x4 if you include Dier
CM x4 if you include Sissoko. Even if you don't we have Winks.
AM xfucking loads
STR x2

Lol the ol' well "this first teamer can also cover this position." Its like when the club tried to convince the fans that son was a striker. Bsodl's lapped it up while everyone else saw right through the charade. I think it's abundantly clear that we failed to get cover for Eriksen. If Poch planned on using Lamela, a first XI player as Eriksen's competition, we wouldnt have tried for Isco at the end of the window or Gotze when the window opened.

Not being happy about having a lack of cover for Eriksen ≠ not being happy about the squad as a whole.

He is cover in the sense he can make a stab at providing the same role Dembele does if we need him to but imo it is not his best position and will more likely be used further up the field.

The lack of cover for Eriksen is the only chink in our armor at present - hopefully Edwards can get some game time and perhaps become the player we all hope he can be but that wont happen anytime soon.

So where is the survey for the most bipolar, mentally unstable, chronically irrationally disappointed fans in the PL?!

Do you not listen to Pochettino when he gives interviews?
He has basically said that he wants players that can play multiple positions within a small squad.

100% this.

If anyone wants to predict what players we will value, either ones we will retain or ones we will go after in transfer windows, and which ones we won't keep or go after, look at how many positions they can cover on the field. Paramount to how Poch wants to play and how he wants to construct his squad.
