Shocking by Son and Kane today but they’ll both probably start again on Saturday.
Not winning anything in Europe with Conte, it’s his Kryptonite.

I'm not angry we've lost - it's the cl and we aren't going to just walk it. But we've been pretty bland and uninspiring for nearly the entire season so far. When is this likely to change? ?

Our team has lacked energy all season. It's very functional but lacks directness at times.
Personally would have given Spence 30 mins tonight
Likewise. He's strong and attacking and could have created something. Certainly there was nothing to lose in giving it a go. There was little ambition from Conte to try anything different. Kane was shocking and warranted being taken off. He seems really lethargic this season

Poor execution and decisions by our players and it was a real hard watch. Still some question marks over that midfield imo. Not convinced Bentancur and Hojbjerg have enough about them to make it work as a two.

Some of the comments about Conte on here are shocking. Yes it was very bad tonight, and it’s puzzling that so many of our new signings don’t get a look in. But results wise he’s been delivering at a level we haven’t seen since peak Poch (who also delivered some appalling CL performances even in his best season - 16/17).

Let’s see how we respond against Leicester. We could be top of the league this time next week.

Defensively he’s very very solid far more than Doherty and Spence in Conte’s view isn’t anywhere near ready so it’s probably more of a case of he’s the best we have right now, but yea I’m surprised Doherty has barely had a minute yet, we looked a lot better going forwards with him towards the end of last season, maybe his injury isn’t up to speed to start games yet.
Royal is patently not a 'shit' player but then he also very clearly has a ceiling and lacks that attacking nous to be considered anywhere near elite - certainly not for us and where we aspire to be.

Much like with Sissoko, the bar was so low that doing just the mundane prompts staunch defence from some on here - we have to look for better and in Conte's system, it's a necessity we strive for better!

Our away form in Europe has been utterly abysmal for over a decade now.
Why are the lads not performing in European games away is beyond me. Is almost a fucking complacency that everyone in the club needs to stop thinking we are too good for the so called smaller leagues and teams.

And Kane needs to stop trying to hit Hollywood passes every time he receives the ball

what worse than Kane, swear he was playing for Sporting
Only touch I saw from Kane was absolutely blasting it back at Hojbjerg afer he'd passed him the ball late on and we consequently lost possesion. Was the touch of a Rhino. I've seen people shoot with ess force lol.

I’m surprised Conte didn’t bring on Sessegnon and Doherty or Spence as Perisic wasn’t at it and Emerson imploded.
He must have been happy with a point and keeping the players fresh ahead of Leicester.

I think we’ll see Lenglet, Sessegnon, Doherty, Bissouma and Kulusevski all starting at the weekend.
Sessegnon was ready to come on just before they scored.

That was fucking horrible.
The decision making was dreadful both on and off the pitch. Kane and Sonny were truly awful, first touch and final ball just shocking. Yet Kulu eventually gets brought on with just 20 minutes left. Ridiculous!
They looked shattered all over the pitch, yet only one sub used. WTF! Conte is gonna have to trust some of these players soon.

This result's been coming though. The performances haven't been matching the results, and today we paid for another poor performance.

Erm the second goal...

Anyway the problem with these tactics is if you lose...

I'm happy to keep playing 343, but we need our wingback to be more attacking, and the cm need to get the ball moving forward quicker.

In fact everyone needs to get the ball moving forward quicker, and not kicking it long.

Just too slow and one paced.
343 is why we're too slow and one paced. Our front three can't play against a back three. They've looked bad in the majority of games against one, and most teams are playing with a back three or reverting to one out of possession against us. Our midfield get over run and it's easy to cut out our passing lanes. We've actually played some good attacking football against a back five the few times we went with a 352 formation, and I think it's something we need to try again.

Also the snobbishness that some fans have over teams not in the big 3 leagues pisses me off, and that some thought this would be an easy three points is frankly delusion. Sporting are a good team (as I said personally they are the second best team in the group), a loss is absolutely not an unexpected result and this group isn't piss easy.

As I said this is a group where we are both favourites but at the same time it wouldn't be surprising if we failed to get out of it. A loss away against the 2nd best team in the group is no crisis, we move on.
lol

They can literally turn up after HT and win 90% of games in their league... if they want to.
