Cant blame Conte for the calamity of our defence who couldn’t hold a 2 goal cushion.
As a few have pointed out, you can blame him for conceding possession and putting pressure on said defence that are totally incapable of handling it.
Fucking madness to keep playing the same way and acting surprised that we can’t defend like AC Milan from 1992.

Until we sort our CBs out, we are always gonna be shite. Dier and Davies are both squad players at best.

You would think 3 goals would be enough to seal the points to a Southampton team that struggles to score. Our defence is an absolute disgrace and Dier hasn’t got a clue where he should be.
I agree our defence is absolutely terrible. So wouldn’t you agree sitting back is asking for trouble?

As a sign of our defence, if I’m reading right, that’s the first time Southampton have scored three in a premier league game since 26th December 2021.

Maybe. Just maybe. If we didn’t rely on defensive football. Pushed a
Little higher and pushed for more goals. When on top. They wouldn’t have had so many corners. So many chances. Stop blaming a defence which is asked to do 70% more work because we sit so deep. It Tactics. And it’s shit. And it plays to none of our strengths. Conte to blame. Fully.

No free passes for anyone. Two of our own both shit. 5 players who won’t and actually can’t do very much at all with the ball. Terrible pen but Sarr is fkin really dumb in swinging like that.

We didn’t deserve any more.

Who are the 7?
Dier, Lenglet, Davies, Hojbjerg.....

Perisic, Skipp and Forster based on today, overreacting a bit with Skipp and who really cares about perisic and Forster with their combined age of a grandmother but when they all play together its genuinely tough to watch.

We were 2-1 up and Dier was literally playing at walking speed. We have no ability to go from defence to midfield, neither of the cm’s show for the ball in positions where you can transition to attack. Absolutely sick of the lot of them.

Richarlison has gone off crying two more times than he has premier league goals, turning into an awful signing. Had to 180 in the summer and pretend to like him and he’s given nothing to show that it was a flip worth making.

I was at the game today and overall I dont think we played that badly, albeit still just boring, and it is a very very low bar. I bare in mind that Southampton were really poor and they had two defenders out. I felt because of that - we should have been pummeling them.

There are absolutely no excuses for us dropping two points, and whilst the penalty wasn't the penalty, I couldn't care less about that - its the capitulation stemming from letting teams come on to us. Happens time and time again. You can blame our defenders too, but if you have part of a team that is weak, then surely you capitalise on the strengths and that is being high up and front foot. YOU DO NOT INVITE THE OTHER TEAM ON TO YOU. I dont think that is too difficult to comprehend.

Good thing about the internationals, is no more Spurs. To be honest, I felt nothing at the game, only went as im in Winchester for the weekend, and to be honest, just want the season to end. Dont give a shite about CL football.

The forward players don’t trust our defense which is probably why we sit back so deep.
Conte's teams always sit back deep. When he had Chiellini, Barzagli and Bonucci they were still sitting deep. That's what he does and will always do.

I think it’s because our midfield can’t transition from defence to attack, they don’t show for the ball in positions where they should if they wanted to progress the play. It’s slow, safe and invites pressure. The day we see someone other than hojbjerg partnering Bissouma/Bentancur and Skipp will be a good day, absolutely sick of him. Cost us with their second goal claiming hand ball, could’ve just stopped the pass through if he’d been more interested in the game.

I think we sit back so deep because that’s what the players are told to do.
I’m not sure, if you watch his Juventus team they had players like bonnuci and cheilini. They didn’t sit back so deep. I just don’t think the players or coach trust our CBs which is why we sit so deep.
