disappointed isn't the word... we've needed a striker for the last 2-3 windows and nothing has been done. I thought we had aspirations to stay in the champions league mix for the future? obviously not...

Harry OUT!

Jol back!

Yes, now there was a manager who only signed top, top world class players. As messers Stalteri, Tainio, Chimbonda, Malbranque and Murphy would agree.

And who was it that, upon his signing, described Rasiak as "a tall target man, a hard-working, honest player with a good goal scoring record"?

And all that with the help of a DoF (which, to be fair, I wish we still had).

Every manager signs their fair share of stinkers. I don't want Harry out, and I don't want Jol back if he did leave. But I am worried that (with the exception of VdV, who by all accounts was an opportunistic signing) Harry's signings are Portsmouth level. Every single one of the others, in 5 transfer windows, he could have signed for Portsmouth. Most of them he did, actually. That's not what we want. We need a big signing in the summer, if we want to progress, and ideally a couple of promising youngsters thrown into the bargain.

I really admire your spirit. But to me, "audere est facere" doesn't just mean the players on the pitch. It extends to the manager and the board. I honestly believe that we didn't dare. Again. And we won't do. Sorry, but that's my opinion. If we get top four again you are welcome to throw this back at me.

First post so be gentle. Our transfer dealings seemed a little shambolic seen from a distance. If we really wanted Adams why wait until we ran out of time and if we wanted Neville why not offer a more realistic amount? If we really wanted a striker why not plan ahead and try to tie up a deal so that they join us in the first week of the window? If the likes of Aguerro are out of our reach either because they dont want to come or we cant afford the fee/wages/tax shouldnt we have worked that out before the last afternoon of the window.

Yes we can still make 4th if we have another storming run like we did late last season, however we are up against it and I hope that the feeling around the club isnt as deflated as that of many fans.We really need to pick ourselves up against Blackburn and put in a massive performance but without Bale and with a makeshift defence.

We can console ourselves with the fact that many signings seem to have been for ludicrously over the top fees but that is about all. Whether or not we think Comolli did a good job for us, leaving transfers in the hands of Levy (who does seem very focussed on the financial aspects of the deal) or Harry (who seems to strongly prefer players he knows or have played for him rather than risk something new) seems to be a mistake.

Dont confuse "best attacking team" with "Best to watch"

Your belief is born out of blind love like a lovesick teenager.

There's no point splashing out a load of money if its a last minute panic buy. If we had bought a striker, great but it wasn't to be. There is plenty more to come from this squad. The board will realise they got it wrong last night/month but we live and learn.

I'm thoroughly disappointed with this window, I fail to see how Harry can try claiming we weren't in need of a top striker given how average the goal tally of our frontmen has been. The 11th hour Charlie Adam bid is even more ridiculous, and is the icing on the cake for what I believe has been a royal-cock up all round.

Levy appears to have been hesitant, or at the very least unwilling to splash the cash, Harry seems to have put forward no definite requests for any top strikers, and an 11th hour opportunist bid for a player we don't even need typefies the absurdity of Levy's brinksmanship. With the exception of VdV, when has this approach ever paid off? I am very concerned for the rest of the season now, and I dare say I am not alone.

I agree that it's been a dissapointing window, but for me the real missed opportunity was the summer window. Unfortuantely we seemed to wait until we had Champions league qualification sown up before flashing the cash which only left a week to get in a new striker - which we obviously failed to do. The prices players were going for in this window was crazy, add in the wages and it's just not going to happen. Levy needs to look at his transfer policy and Harry might need to look at our system as Defoe, Crouch and Pav just don't seem to like this formation.

looks like our rivals are coming out stronger, while we are coming out weaker since we've lost a striker, and huddlestone, king and kaboul to long term injury

i would be very concerned.... 6 league goals between the 3 strikers...

12m spent since we got champs league. shocking.

3 point behind chelsea who have just signed fernando torres and david luiz!!! brilliant ! we will be fine! ha ha! those two would walk into our side!!!!

Been a deflating last few days.

The people that keep saying that we can beat Chelsea need to put money where mouth is. I will lay any any size bet you want that we dont.

this is a HUGE disappointment. Lets face it, top 4 and the CL is the only way forward. Without the champions league, how long do Bale, Modric and VdV stick around. Its possible that we still get top 4, but it was always going to be tough. Now City and Chelsea have upgraded and we're already in 5th. Barring a miracle, we just took the first step in the other direction. Im depressed.

Frankly, I dont understand. If we have the money, spend it. If not, sell the club to an oil billionaire please.

I think everyone has said all I want to say, basically we had the biggest chance we are ever going to get to "become a top 4 side" we blew it. I guess we are just not a big club anymore, and this window has really shown us that.

I was so optimistic at the beginning of the season (for once) now I worry what the future brings, we just seem to lack any ambition.

I know DL has a game plan, and I am sure it is a very good one - problem is it is a business plan, one to make money for him and ENIC, but one that does not involve Spurs becoming a top four team in the near future. (his future)

Sorry but I am beginning to think if we want to become a top four side, the only way is for us to get one of those billionaires:roll:

Can't help but feel this is the beginning of the end, are we really going to be able to keep hold of Luka and Bale with Europa League football? Every massive club and City will be in for those two in the summer, no doubt we'll roll over and sell them and we'll be back to square one. Similar to when Carrick/Keane/Berba left and it set us back 3 years, however this time we don't have someone like Comolli to find replacements. If we couldn't attract any top player this season with CL football then what hope will we have in the summer? Replace Luka and Bale with Adam and Downing?

We may have saved ourselves from spending £30m this window, but the damages of not doing so are going to be far greater than £30m.

Everything is fucked.

Succinct and to the point and with the news that Modric has had his appendix out today (extracting our best midfielder from the team at the same time), I tend to agree.

I think Blackburn will come at us hard as per Fulham and with the groundsman and tea-lady in central midfield ('cos that's pretty much all we've got left before resorting to Jenas), we could be in for an uncomfortable evening.

I so hope that I'm wrong...

If we did get Europa league we would defo win it and get into champions league anyway! But for this season, I strongly believe city will falter and we will pounce.

The Blackburn game was very one sided but we came away with 3 points. If we keep doing this then it will go down to a game at eastlands. Who would be up for that? Again! :)
