I think he's done ok this year, really did expect more of an impact from seeing him at Swansea but he's definitely starting to get better. The other thing I like about him is that he's industrious, which he shares with our other new acquisition Holtby, and not afraid to get stuck in or show for it.

He's still fairly young and has the right set of abilities. He may never make a first teamer but at least he's an excellent option for a squad player.

I would consider 23 very young for a midfielder. And for a guy that has had his positions changed throughout the season in a new squad, I think he's done well for himself.

Agreed. He's been at his best filling in on the left of midfield whilst Bale is given freedom of expression in the heart of attack. I think it's allowed Bale to play at his best too. He's hard working so has supported his full back well and has a good left peg. It's not an easy job to do considering he's not a natural wide man and doesn't have a lot of pace which is almost a necessity for a winger.

Yeah, he's sort of taking the "when life hands you lemons..." statement and applying it to his current position.

Call me crazy, but I'd love to see him as a striker. He's got a skillset that is very similar to Josip Ilicic and Michu (to an extent) and I think, given his age, he could possibly take to being a striker. The two aforementioned guys have at times been used as a lone striker from their normal positions just behind the striker. He knows how to make space for himself, he's got good close control, he isn't afraid to mix it up in the box, decent shot on him and he knows how to hold up the ball.

Has the right technical abilities as you say, but I'm not sure if he has the awareness for one. The Chelsea goal was like that of a striker so who knows. I originally thought, when we bought him, that he would inherent VDV's off-the-striker role and him and Ade would form a great partnership. It's a shame it didn't quite work out that way.

Illicic is an attacking mid who plays off the striker and Michu started off with Swansea and Vallecano as an attacking mid too but has been pushed forward due to his effectiveness. It is possible as it's not unprecedented, but it's not common for players to transition like that either.

He may do well as part of a fluid attacking 3. In the McCarthy thread you've just made I was just talking about the 3 centre mids and their cover. I don't see Siggy being part of that as I don't think he's been too comfortable in a deeper central role. However, he could be used as cover for a front 3 or when we need to mix things up a bit and change formation.
