Pick bones out of that

In my opinion we would have had a different score line and probably outcome had Poch started our in form player of the season Lamela, instead of starting an out form and un match fit Dele.

An ex gooner scores a hat trick against us

Anyone who comes on this thread and say that they are not embarrassed should go do one

No one deserves to wear a Spurs shirt much less get MOTM. Our worse home defeat ever

Mate, I am embarrassed by that scoreline but this was an odd one. We started so well, showed hunger and desire. Good first half from a number of players but we showed our illness of being soft and mentally frail in the face of adversity. That 3rd goal demoralised us, and then it was all down hill. Confidence shot, and too many players blowing hot and cold.

LLoris - 4

Toby - 4
Jan - 4
Serge - 1
Rose - 4

Ndombele - 6 (mostly based on this first half. second half he was defensively a liability)
Winks - 2
Sissoko - 5

Son - 5
Kane - 5
Dele - 1

Poch - 0

I've supported this team since 1981. I've experienced the lowest of lows with this team and the highest of highs. But tonight was a watershed moment. This is not an other-wordly Bayern team. Yes, they're very good. But it's not like they are Barca or Real in their prime. Which, would at least make a result like tonight a bit more understandable.

The way so many of the players just gave up, is so sad to see.

I don't see a way out for Poch. You can't get away with a loss like this, combined with a poor start to the season, and an embarrassing exit to a league 2 team in the Caraboa cup.

That's what you get for not starting Lamela. Well done Poch!!!

Also, I'm convinced most goals we have conceded this season (or a huge portion, at least) are a result of us messing around too much with the ball near our own area when teams are pressuring us. Today I noticed players like Winks, Rose, Kane Aurier and Toby being guilty of that. How the fuck is Pochetino not coaching that out of the team is difficult for me to understand.

Anyway, the season is not lost. I remember back in the 2003-2004 season, Deportivo La Coruña got trashed by Monaco 8-3 and they still ended up making semis of the CL (while Monaco ended up being finalists, haha).

I'm.just glad that they didn't get that blatant penalty, and we were awarded one because they hardly touched Rose foot.....

Strange 2 halves. We were far better in the first, had purpose and looked dangerous. They weren't bad either, I just felt we had an edge. The system was working.

In the second half, they grow.a.13inch dong and drilled us a new.one. like dongzilla in a virgin brothel. far more purpose and its like our players just forgot that they had to defend. Poch had no answers, he didnt even try.

Ah well. We move on to the next game

Only trouble.is, smaller sides will come.at us bushy tailed and confident. Pochettino needs to find a.way to stop this. However, it's looking more and more like he needs.a.rebuild? Who knows

Quick ratings then I'm outta this place, and football in general till something positive happens

Hugo 6

Rose 3- better lb needed

Vertonghen 5 -meh, not great

Toby 7- made a mistake when the game was done but was good I thought

Aurier 3- better RB needed

Winks -3 better DM needed

NDombele - 8 motm- before he ran out of coal he was pretty incredible

Sissoko -7 typical Sissoko, covered the fullbacks best he could, some nice passing and tackles. Can't shoot

Son -8 good then ran out of steam
Dele -6 more lively but still nowhere near
Kane -6 ok

Eriksen -5 did nothing apart from one good shot
Lucas -3 pointless
Lamela NET

Bayern are scary good tbh. We were really good for 40 minutes or so, looking their equal.
But that late collapse when the players knew it was over is embarrassing, and they should be ashamed. Like Newcastle away.

good attacking display for most of the match that would kill off lesser teams but from my advantage point..
Rose, aurier left us so exposed, it was so bad
And Winks in that deep role gave us the softest white chocolate centre . So easy to cut through him when he wasn't giving up possession in dangerous areas

Anyway response Saturday will be interesting.

Son was extremely wasteful and at times, selfish. Had he done better with his chances it could (probably would) have been a different story.

Winks had a poor game today.

Kane was alright. Sissoko was alright.

Have to give low marks as well to any players who clearly quit 2H. Shocking.

The players who gave up in the second half should never play for us again. Aurier, Toby, and Rose specifically. Hang your heads in shame.

We had the most goals scored in the league and the fewest conceded when we had peak Walker, Rose, and Wanyama. Fast forward to this season, and we have no right back, no Wanyama replacement, and Rose is several levels below where he was. We have to do something ASAP to replicate that 16-17 spine/defensive flanks. Move Sissoko to RB, get Dier or Skipp in with Winks out, and buy a DM+LB in January.
(I only didn’t mention Dembele because N’Dombele rocks and is somewhat of a replacement. So fun to watch.)

Also, props to Bayern. That was one of the most professional, ruthless thrashings I’ve seen in a long time. Should’ve been 4, maybe, but 7 is a real credit to them.

Was Poch trying to make a statement by removing our midfield tonight or did he just think having 3 wingers and centre forward would limit the damage

Lloris - 6 - no protection
Aurier - 4 - naive and poor
Toby - 5
Verts - 6
Rose - 3
Winks - 7 (for effort alone, not his best game)
Ndombele - 7.5 (please be fitter)
Sissoko - 7
Dele - 6
Kane - 7
Son - 7

Lamela - 6
Eriksen - 5
Moura - 5

Poch - 2 - wrong team, naive tactics, crap changes, needs to sort this shit out!

On way home now - wow !! Certainly didn’t expect that result esp after the first half. A few observations :-

- we looked really good for first half - esp Son who really terrorised their defence. Second half we just fell apart once it went 3-1 and no one on the pitch was really taking charge.
- Aurier was lucky to stay on pitch and gave the ball away for at least two of their goals. He really is poor.
- as others have said the faffing around passing at the back is suicidal. Every time it happened we looked like giving them a chance to score.
- Support - I get it’s not nice watching us get hammered at home but a lot of people left at 4-1. I was one of very few left at the final whistle (btw Son the only player I noticed coming over and applauding the fans at the end).
- Subs - appreciate they didn’t have a lot of time to be effective but Eriksen again looked uninterested. Not sure who he thinks is going to buy him.
- main concern for me was the attitude when the 6th goal went in. Lots of finger pointing at each other.
- all that said Bayern took their chances very well and were clinical.

Hard to choose a MOM but on first half I’ll go Son.

Let's be honest, even from the start we were wide open, and you just cant play like that against any half decent opposition. The first 30 seconds they'd cut us open and got a shot on goal. Both teams throughout were able to work the ball into the final third under no pressure and get at the defence. However for the opening 20 mins or so we had the greater urgency and intensity, pressed hard, forged a few very decent chances and eventually hustled a goal out of them. Looking good.

But that was it.

It started with tactical issues. They went about exposing the diamond, dragging us about, running us into the ground, and eventually turned the scoreline around. The second half was just shambolic. They toyed with us and were ruthless, we lost the plot and contributed errors as we meekly bent over and took it.

Where do you start though in apportioning blame? It's a myriad of complexity. Our attacking players do fuck all if the initial press fails and don't track back. Our midfielders aren't perfect but are getting run about from side to side constantly covering the flanks, gaps will inevitably open up, and often get exposed because they have chased after men that those in the front line cant be bothered to deal with instead of sitting in front of the back four, and the defence then gets exposed by all that's happened in front of it. It's just not functioning as a whole, as a unit. That means you will inevitably be under more pressure, more pressure leads to more mistakes, etc.

Tactics, technique, fitness, morale, effort...... Also all seem to be at play.

Someone, Poch, has to get a grip, but we've been saying it for weeks now....... There are some tough and bold decisions that have to be made and a radical reworking of how a Spurs side functions out on that pitch.
