Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

Direct physical confrontation could lead to innocent bystanders getting hurt in the melee if it does kick off, especially if kids are nearby.
Good. Let the kids get a boot in aswell.

How moronic must someone be to chant racist crap at an opposition player when our players and fans are from all sorts of cultures? Maybe it’s a heat of the moment thing and the person realises they have been at but of a t*** and turns themselves in.

If someone is caught I actually think they should be sent on a course (a bit like speeding drivers) and actually try to be educated about it. Just banning them for life is not solving the wider issue. They’ll still have a shit attitude but just outside of the stadium.
The club don't have the power to force people to take a course, so can only hand out punishments like stadium bans.

Pricks show their true colours when things go against them. I’ve witnessed this myself lately from a spurs fan in his 60s. Who I’ve known for a while. My only hope is it disappears over the generations. Totally embarrassed by it. Especially against Chelsea. We have scum among us.

I didn’t hear racist chanting against Rudiger but I sit in the upper tier of west, close to the north stand, and very clearly heard the Chelsea fans hissed my to mimic gas chambers. I do believe that Rudiger was abused though as I just don’t believe someone would make that up.

Sadly we definitely have our own bigot element, even walking into the stadium some dick head was making Son jokes at an oriental fan who was struggling with the turnstiles.

Yes, Rudiger is a cheat, but monkey chants or vile songs or anything like that has no place in football.

Also, as I’ve read it brought up in this thread, no sympathy with Alonso, I wouldn’t say it but that said won’t pretend I’m not repulsed by him being allowed to have his career after what he did.

The stadium ban should just be the first step. If, as an individual, you are not aware by now that being racist in the street /any public place / a football stadium is both a criminal offence & socially unacceptable then you deserve all that is coming your way in terms of prosecution.

'Spur of the moment' (no pun intended) is not an excuse.

Yep heard it first hand, towards Son and those Asian fans that attend games to support him.

disgusting.

worst part of this is that it’s the 2nd incident recently (banana throwing).. and we’ve hammered Chelsea as the racist club eh!
The banana incident was Not a racist act, I know the fella who threw that, he was a fucking idiot who got banned for it and deservedly so for many reasons except racism... This has been covered before that he picked up anything by his feet and chucked it at the arsenal player.... Again I'm in no condoning this moronic act and he deserved his ban but it wasn't a racist act just a bizarre incident, if it was an apple on the floor by his feet he would have thrown that.... So please stop referring to it as a racist incident its just the media deciding it was without really searching the truth, I've spoken to the fella and totally believe him he is greek and has no racist bones in his body, stupid yes, loutish yes, moronic yes.

Today I heard the chant "murderer" chanted at Alonso, now, i dont know the details of what happened when he was a youth player but for me, on a human level, that has no place in football.
This is the kind of person you are dealing with during a football match, these people sit around me and I class as decent people but in the moment say shit like that.
All round shit day. I'm told a can of paint has spilt all over the floor at home and it's my fault as I stacked it like Jenga! Balls!
TBH calling Alonso, a murder isn't that bad, if he wasn't a footballer he'd be in jail

I'm block 252 and didn't hear any racist chant or noises but did see a lighter thrown on the pitch and then the coffee cup at the keeper.

thats whats sad about society...a chant over colour of skin is far more offensive than a chant thats about a guy killing a small child

Is it allowed to chant whatever you'd like as long as it is not racism, but as soon it is racist, it is so terrible that the persons who did that deserve to be baned for life? Sorry, but to me it seems like that's the general opinion. And I find it kind of ironic and absurd.

If there was monkey chants there are cameras everywhere and the truth should prevail.... I am praying it was a mistake and just booing, let's see
Would have been the only over-dramatisation by him tbh. That's the one thing that makes me skeptical, as monkey chanting is very uncommon in the PL crowds.

Very strange times were living in. The whole political shenagans seems to have gave some morons the impression that this sort of shit is alright again. Football clubs need to make a stand no doubt but this runs way deeper and needs political intervention.

It's selective and abuse of the very core of what and who you are and leaves you feeling a lesser person, I know to anyone who hasn't suffered it that may be hard to grasp. Whereas anyone can be a shit a scumbag or a toe rag, even a murderer so it is inclusive in its denigration not excluding.
