Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

watching it again on motd2, rudiger must have incredible hearing given he's about 20 yards away from the stands when it apparently happened.

As a support we have taken the moral high ground with the yiddo chants- but today is disgusting nobody should have to put up with abuse at their workplace I think we will be lucky if the ground isn't closed for a game and who could argue against it.

I sat there the other week when we played Olympiakos and there were a few of there supporters in the Park Lane and people were keen to point them out today a player is racially abused and where's the same reaction?. As supporters we all need to stand up against these mugs saying that I don't agree with it and Im ok jack isn't enough. If somebody abuses a player then sound them out point em and get em out.

I have always been proud to be a Spurs supporter travelling all over and hearing the gas noises and monkey chants and we never did that . Today I am ashamed and so should we all be

I’m close to giving up on the game to be honest. There is some disgusting stuff shouted at pretty much every match. I haven’t heard racism but I’ve heard everything else! These ‘fans’ are a disgrace to society. When is it ever ok to shout abuse and throw objects at anyone?! I had a row with a ‘fan’ who kept calling others ****s for sitting down in the south stand. ‘Fucking gooner ****s, fuck off, shit this, **** that!’ These ‘fans’ are never there against the Burnley’s and Bournemouth’s but have the nerve to abuse everyone else at the ‘big’ games. Why can’t you just support your team ?!

Couple of bottles thrown an the pitch? Well, you don't get a present and hug from Santa Claus by doing things like that. It is not well mannered. But, for Gods sake, it was a derby and the temperature was hot. Let's not be too political correct. No one got hurt. It's not like the 80s anymore. PL games are safe and nice. We must not overreact.

Lots of self righteous indignation going on on here and the media.

Has there been any confirmation of monkey noises from the fans?

Serious question because when I watched it live it sounded like boos to me.

Couldn’t hear anything from the North Stand but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t anything said or done.

I’m all for football banter but anybody being found to be racially abusing any player is not welcome at our or any football club.

This goes beyond banter or club allegiances and should never be tolerated or excused in any way. There are more than enough cameras so evidence will be found and if it’s found that Rudiger was faking (which I don’t believe) then he should also be punished for such serious allegations.

Today I heard the chant "murderer" chanted at Alonso, now, i dont know the details of what happened when he was a youth player but for me, on a human level, that has no place in football.
This is the kind of person you are dealing with during a football match, these people sit around me and I class as decent people but in the moment say shit like that.
All round shit day. I'm told a can of paint has spilt all over the floor at home and it's my fault as I stacked it like Jenga! Balls!
Marcos Alonso has no business being a football player. None. In fact, he has no business being on the street. He should be in prison.

I thought at the time he was scared to go to take the throw in because of the shouting at him so he wasn't really close to crowd when he started his uncertainty. I am really hoping they've got something on film or someone in the crowd comes forward to back up his story otherwise this will open that can of worms and put him in a very difficult position.

Today there was a bloke few rows behind me who rarely managed a sentence without using the C word . It was like siting in front of Derek and Clive but probably a little bit worse . Now Im home I feel a bit guilty about not sounding him out it was actually disgusting and Im far from a saint

No doubt we’ve got racist supporters, it would be very strange if there were no racists at all in a crowd of 60,000 blokes.

I do find it hard to believe that there were monkey chants though. For the chants to be audible to Rudiger it would have to involve numerous people, yet no one else heard the chants or saw anyone making monkey gestures.

I can easily imagine one moron shouting something racist, but no way could it have been any form of chanting or signing as has been reported.

Personally I'm with you on this. The atmosphere generally at football (not just Spurs) is pretty horrible and the sort of things that you hear genuinely wouldn't be okay in any other environment.

It's pathetic tribalism and is embarrassing when people try to defend it.

I'll always support Spurs. But racism or not the atmosphere at football in general makes me increasingly dislike the game.

Will it? No one with a public platform would dare to suggest that he was mistaken.

Puts him in a difficult situation ? How the bloke is being abused at his place work even if he just thinks it, that's enough. Its disgusting. The announcement wasn't made just once so it continued we are in the wrong end of .

i honestly think we will be luck if the ground isn't closed for a game

I honestly like the tribalism of football. Without it, a derby wouldn't be the same. I think it is good we have that arena for being a tribe. Watch out! The western world might be too feminized. But I don't like it when things get too personal. Shout at the opposite team and supporter, but not a single player. My opinion.

I see what you mean but I guess it would have to be made public that no charge against any individual or the club was made as there was no evidence wouldn't it?
