Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

I will say, I think it would have been a nice if there had been a chant amongst the fans in general either in support of Rudiger or in condemenation of the "fans" at fault. I think that's the kind of thing that can go a long way in presenting the incident today in a more positive light...by that I mean right now you see nothing but negative headlines, if there had been something like the aforementioned it could have flipped the situation on it's head to some extent and even have been seen as a positive scenario and powerful moment in the fight against racism.

That’s pretty optimistic mate given the circumstances of the game and the fact that 95% of the crowd knew nothing of what had actually taken place other than the game being stopped.

A couple of fans who were there have said that they thought the stadium announcements were aimed at Chelsea fans for their hissing....I'd imagine the vast majority of fans in the stadium didn't even have a clue what was going on at the time.

Mate I understand where you're coming from, but this isn't Tottenham's problem, it's not even football's problem...it's society's.
If there was no such thing as football, these racists wouldn't just suddenly stop being racist....they'd just find another conduit to channel their hate.

What's needed is much harsher punishments (if it's grown adults), not crappy stadium bans.
If it's youngsters then education is key.

I agree but shrugging of shoulders isn’t enough, we all slapped down Chelsea when the tube incident happened, when it’s our club your bound to feel something hit home?

It's not a shock, every club will have their fair share of idiots. I've said before more than once, for instance, that a few years back when I did quite a few away games I heard quite nasty racist abuse (primarily against Adebayor and Gallas) five matches in a row. And any match I go to you will hear comments that are either borderline or quite clearly out of order. I haven't experienced any coordinated or larger scale pockets of abuse from a big group of Spurs fans, but the isolated idiots are there, always have been, always will be.
I agree. I’ve heard stuff about Aurier (more dog whistle stuff), Gallas being called a black c word, against YP Lee as well. We’re not innocent.

That's a fair point, don't have the same stream of info in the stadium.

Of course I'll condemn it, but I don't really know what you're suggesting we do as Spurs fans, other than ask 99.999% percent of normal decent Spurs fans to apologise for something they had fuck all to do with.

I'm not apologising for these morons.

Were they giving it some of that today?

I find this difficult to believe tbh.

For Rudiger to hear monkey chants, there would need to be a sizeable number of supporters making those noises.

Looks like to me, he wasn't happy at being abused and he pulled the race card.

They were abusing Rudiger because of him feigning injury, not because of his skin colour.

Let's wait for the evidence. If I'm proven wrong, I'll hold up my hands.

It wasn't us FFS. The chavs were giving it the Nazi salutes and gas chamber noises throughout.

Half of them should have been carted off, and the club should be denied an away capacity for a game or two.

I have never, ever heard racist shite at the lane in my life. The one time anything happened was that Greek bloke who got banned immediately.

I'm South lower and towards that corner so I saw he was upset but didn't see or hear anything towards him. To be honest most of the "support" near me seem more interested in abusing our own players.

What I did hear was a lot of people complaining he was "playing the race card" and then booing and abusing him every time he got the ball which I thought was out of order.

I also saw a ST wallet chucked onto the pitch - I think it was when Son got his red.

Just because you haven't heard it doesn't mean it hasn't happened before. I've heard someone call Adebayor an African **** and that was when he was playing for us.

Same with today, if you didn't hear anything it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Although it does annoy me when you hear hissing noises made by the away fans and nothing is done about it.

Yep, whole away section hissing. Was confused as we didn’t see what had gone on with their players down other end and assumed the announcements were about the Chelsea fans.

I'm amazed the Chelsea support don't report those around them that hiss, you have to make a stand somewhere.
