There's alot of talk flying about regarding various players in various positions, but I was wondering what everyone thinks should be our list of priorities this summer with regards to transfers?

For me the list should be, in order of importance...

1. Goalkeeper
2. Defensive minded central midfielder
3. Creative central midfielder
4. Left sided midfielder/winger
5. First class centre back (assuming Ledley won't be fit again)
6. Left back (as backup to Bale)
7. Right winger (this increases if Lennon leaves)
8. Another striker (especially if Bent leaves)

Those for me are the priorities. Obviously if Berbatov leaves then that changes everything and a quality striker becomes one of our top priorities, and I suppose 3 & 4 are fairly interchangeable...we just need some creativity from somewhere.

I should point out that I don't necessarily expect us to bring in all those players...it's just the order of priority.

Why do we need LW? We have Bale, Steed and Gilberto to play there?

1. Ball winning central midfielder with guts and leadership
2. Ball playing central midfielder with the ability to dictate tempo
3. Left winger who can beat a man and get a cross in regularly with their left foot
4. Goalkeeper
5. Experienced centre back with proven quality
6. Another central midfielder

you have way to maney prioraties if we get to maney players are team just will not click

1. Gk
2. DM or Creative Midfielder or both
3.CB has a reserve
4. striker has reserve
5. winger to compete

so I expect only 4 players max to be changed in the main line up.

1. GK

after that I can't split them easily - but probably DM, CB, LB,

then 5 AM

and then replacements for any key leavers if they go

I am not being funny but why is there so many LW priorities and no RW.

On the left wing we have three players, RW we have one.....who isnt very good.

Get rid of Lennon, get in someone who can cross a ball.

Because we have Lennon (who is not as bad as you claim and will be back to his best), Steed who is right footed (just playing on the left because we have nobody else - a clear indication we could do with someone) and JJ can play out there (probably better than he does in central midfield).

A left footed left winger is far more of a worry, unless you are thinking Gilberto is going to cut it, which I seriously doubt.

That's pretty close to the list I'd come up with. I'm not so sure we don't need a LB rather than a LW though. I think we'd find it easier to find a LB who's better (at least defensively) than Bale than we would a LW who's better than Bale. Someone who could play both positions would be perfect for us, and for young Gareth. I think this may have been the idea behind signing Gilberto, but like you, I'm not convinced by him.

I seriously think Ramos will play Bale as a LB. Like a left footed Hutton. Although he isn't perfect defensively he is only a kid and a lot of his problems are down to positioning and I am sure Ramos will have that sorted quickly enough. I think his engine and ability to overlap are going to be crucial to Ramos' style. This is why I haven't included a LB on my list, especially as we have Gilberto and BAE with Berchiche for the long term (hopefully).

yep for me it's a LB we need not a LW -

if Bale is fit he can play LM and that'll do me for LW - with the likes of Steed Gilberto as back up

as I'm not counting on Bale being fit I think LB is a massive problem area -
