No league has agreed to 5 subs though, whilst you are all wetting the bed yet again guys.

Individual leagues will decide if they want to implement, IFAB have just allowed the possibility if Leagues (and in PL case would need 14 clubs to agree) wish to.
It’s farcical to even have be allowed the option to implement it imo

Why ? Football is not just played here but all over the world.
Different leagues have different timetables, some just about to start their seasons. It is being done for player welfare across the globe.
No league is compelled to adopt it, especially mid-season, they each have their own rules (which includes playing conditions such as number of substitutes allowed), which clubs must vote on if they wish to change.

However I do think it is 50:50 if we do adopt, due to player welfare in the current climate (we will be cramming in a lot of games), but the teams that might be at disadvantage (the less well off teams), could certainly veto it, if they wish

It's only proposed to prevent player overload. So, here's a wild counter solution, don't overload the players with insane match frequency?!

Because it’s quite frankly a stupid idea. It’s also a idea for the better teams in each league to take the most advantage from.

Man city for example have 7 subs that would get into each of the XI from the teams below the top 6.

I keep seeing the we have to keep the integrity of the league and finish it yet they are willing to change anything and everything to do so and that’s compromises the integrity anyway.

Might as well just do rolling subs

Talk about going round in circles.
The clubs can choose not to adopt, 14 would have to vote change through.
Maybe get your knickers in a twist if they do at that stage, why have a hissy fit when nothing has happened apart from giving leagues like Korea a chance to play with 5 subs temporarily if they wish (as an example, don't know if they did, their league started yesterday)
If you reckon everyone outside Top 6 would be at disadvantage, and clubs feel the same way, then quite probably they won't vote it through here.

There is nowhere for me to put this item so I will put it on here as its the most read thread..
Mark Clattenberg was waffling on about how he should have sent Dier of in the " battle of the bridge " match but no mention of the five bookings that Chelsea players should have got in the first half . If he had booked these Chelsea players when he should have there would have been no " battle of the bridge " match as Chelsea would have had several players sent off after 10 minutes of the second half if he had done his job . His view was he tried to let the game flow . Well in my opinion a yellow or red card if deserved should be given in the first minute if deserved . That match still grates on me and confirmed my opinion of Clattenberg as an arsehole and cost us dearly in this game as had he did his job probably we would have won this game and would have still been in with a shout of the title . Unfortunately this game and result caused us to lose all momentum and in my opinion a possible title . F..K Clatenberg and his " I wanted to let the game flow " whilst forgetting the laws of the game .

Yes I mentioned in my original response it was farcical to even let them have a choice

Clattenburg will be dining out on the battle of the bridge forever.

You do understand this is a forum for debate? No one is saying it's crazy that the PL have adopted it, they're saying it's a bad idea, and then, here's the interesting part, discussing why they think that.

And not allowing the Mendes goal at OT! That one hurt as well.

And the one with Gomes when he rolled the ball out because he thought it was a free kick to us. Really bad sportsmanship from all involved and he gave Man U the goal.

He’s never liked us.

He's an arse. It was always about him, I said that from the first game I saw him referee, against Liverpool at WHL years ago.

Sorry but you can't change the rules of a competition half way through. That's nonsense.

Either play the games in front of fans at their proper stadiums, or don't play at all...

It’s not really the same competition if they change the rules halfway through. But in the case of not having VAR they might be into something! (y)

I keep seeing how Chelsea stopped us winning the League that year . Pure fiction . Leicester went on to win their remaining games and we were miles off . The DRAW at Chelsea had no bearing on the title race . A win at Chelsea would have meant that ... Leicester won the Prem.

Nobody is "getting their knickers in a twist", "having a hissy fit", or any other slur that you wish to throw around.
There are a lot of crazy ideas being put out there and with this being a football fan forum, they are being discussed as intended.
I don't see why you feel the need to keep jumping on people for it?

As far as I'm concerned, as things stand, I can understand the calls to play behind closed doors, as I also understand the need to complete the season although I don't totally agree with it.
As for some of the other ideas being bandied about, I cannot see how they can be implemented during a season, without fundamentally changing the competition.
If this is still going on for next season, then they could be considered but you cannot change the rules of a league half way through.

And yes, I know nothing has been agreed. This is just my view on some of the proposals I've seen.

An example of how all this stuff could go down.

MMA figher Jacare has tested positive for covid 19. He did a face off with a mask on but has been around the hotel where the fighters and all the staff stay. Who knows how many others got infected.
