Dudu you say " let it go " well the reason I come on to this forum is to air my views however deluded they may be and also if we all agree to the status quo we will never have discussion and argument which for me is healthy .
That is why I will never let go of my view that the " battle of the bridge " cost us big time to what extent we will never know and as for "let it go " I am still of the view that in 1963 against Benfica the bent referee and two disallowed goals cost us the champions league in its form at the time . That will let you know I am not one for letting things go and I enjoy discussing different views to mine and have on occasions been made to change my stance on things . But on this I stay firm no matter who or how many try to shoot me down .

It doesn't matter at the end of the day. It's a totally unwinnable argument so let's all agree that Clattenburg is an arse who will probably be making after dinner speeches off the back of the battle of the bridge for years to come and leave it there.

when I said about Clattenberg costing us it was remarked that it did not cost us the league as Leicester won all their remaining games .
My reply to that is " do you remember when Newcastle crumbled " it was all about pressure and nobody knows how Leiceter would have performed had they been put under pressure instead of every other club wanting them to win and incidentally everybody seemed to want Newcastle to win at that moment in time but United put them under immense pressure and they crumbled.
My point is we had momentum and the Chelsea game cost us big time and I choose to believe that we would and could have overtaken them if they were put under some kind of pressure . But thanks to Clattenberg we were never able to apply any pressure as all momentum was lost in " the battle of the bridge ".and we dropped away instead of surging on the crest of a wave so to speak.
The only person who cost us that game was ourselves, we were 2-0 up with 30 mins left, maybe if we focused on the job in hand rather than winning the fights we wouldn’t have folded

I don't think its the empty staidums clubs have the problem with, its giving up home advantage. That is unfair on clubs such as Villa, who have a far better home record than away and have 5 out of 9 games at home.
Yeah I think that in the behind closed doors games, the 'home' team should be allowed to punch.

A third Brighton player has tested positive apparently.

If it starts I wouldn’t be surprised if clubs pull out of fixtures if they don’t feel they should play.

Surely there must be some sort of planning with continuing even though there’s some cases in clubs, because if they think they can play for 9 weeks or whatever and nobody catches the virus then heads need shaking

And if they do start easing lockdown soon, I can easily see the infection rate rising again.
I just can't see how you can get the amount of people required to play games together, without risking their health.
Brighton were already quite vocal about the whole restarting shenanigans, surely they will be totally against it now. I can only see other clubs following their lead - a serious infection to a player, with the possibility of long-term lung damage, is potentially career ending.

They'll be quite cautious on lockdown I think.

Just been watching Sunday supplement, they were saying how the bundesliga was starting up, but players wouldn’t be allowed to shake hands or hug. They all thought this was fine...

Have none of them ever watched a corner, or a free kick? If it’s not safe to shake hands, it’s not safe to play a contact sport.

But surely if they all been tested and come back negative there shouldn’t be a problem

Sky want the Premier League back more than anyone else, of course Sunday Supplement will push that agenda

With 50,000 tests being sent to the US it must put a ? against the ability of them to be able to do the testing.

I think it's more about appearance and promoting what is going to be a public health message worldwide for the foreseeable future rather than the risk of passing it through shaking hands.

I do too but it's only going to take the slightest nod in the direction of loosening the reigns and the idiot masses will burst out.
It was bad enough on VE day.

I wonder how many clubs other than Brighton are going to turn up positive tests. A couple of 'big name' players and surely the whole thing gets called off again.

We haven't even had the second phase of this, countries are clearly holding back numbers as we are clearly being too honest and have the most deaths now across Europe which is ridiculous considering the state of Spain and Italy a few weeks back. Politics and reputation are far more important currently than honesty.

Don't really understand this??

I reckon all they will do is treat them like they’re injured. The PL will say, unlucky, you just can’t select them, just like any other inured player. Lasagnegate showed us they don’t care if half a team is wiped out with something, they’ll still make the team fulfil their fixtures.

And if they do start easing lockdown soon, I can easily see the infection rate rising again.

Exactly. We haven’t heard much from the players union on this. Also, we haven’t heard much from the England captain. From his point of view, with two young children (although they’re shown to be less susceptible) I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not keen, along with other players who have young kids. We don’t know the long term effects yet.

Yet the set they had on last week said the complete opposite to the ones on today and were all dead against it. The programme when I’ve seen it has been unusually sensible.

I guess everyone will just have to close their eyes and pretend it’s not happening when everyone’s all over each other for a corner then.
