Agreed!

Look at Rashford and Greenwood (17 when making first appearance) at United. Not all young players need loans, sometimes they just need the right conditions and I think Scarlett will get plenty of opportunities in the league cup, europe conference league and some appearances in the league. Even if it's 10 minutes here and there.

Give him as many cup starts as possible. That will be a great education for him.

That first half was a great watch. Some really good approach play. I think those who doubted Nuno's ambition to attack and look good might be pleasantly surprised. When you consider the names still missing, plus any signings, the football could very well be entertaining.

Skipp is ready for the 1st team squad.

White, John and Parrott would benefit from 1st team minutes so we should seek out loans for them.

Loans need to be managed.
We need them to count as club trained for Europe when they are older.
Nile John and Skipp already qualify as Club Trained HG, Scarlett is only 1 year away, with 4 seasons to attain it.

Parrott also needs 6 more months in our squad to get there and has 2 seasons to do it.

The only other 2 players that need time from a club trained HG point of view are Devine and Paskotsi, of which both need 2 years and the former has 5 seasons to do so and the latter its probably more important for them to get 1st team minutes somewhere.

How did White do when he came on? Did he play in the "6" as the deepest Midfielder?

Yup. Some neat passes and clever turns to evade the oncoming players. Didn't really see any expansive passing from him and weren't enough set piece opportunities for him to show his prowess. Typical performance by his standards.

I honestly think he can make the jump to the 1st team without a loan. He just turned 18 in March but he looks ready to compete against senior players. Give him ECL, FA and League cup minutes and watch him flourish.

TBH, on the ball that is all you need from a 6, anything else is a bonus IMO. How was he in defence and was he positioning/offering himself as a deep passing option well?

When you look at our midfield options, we have too many in CM (8 & 10) as it is, with Dele, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Holjberg and Skipp (I'm assuming Sissoko will leave) for 2 positions, so he probably won't get game time. In the "6", we only have Winks, so if he is ready, White should be the player we keep in the squad.

I would loan John out, as we still have Devine if we need an 8.

By the way Scarlett took the disallowed goal so well. Like a striker beyond his years.

He didn't really play the role today, but I believe Skipp was largely played as more of a 6 at Norwich last season and didn't really get forward or involved in the attacking play much at all - more of a DM role than a box to box. This is more based on highlight reels and stats, mind, so if anyone has watched lots of Norwich feel free to correct me!

He's definitely got the engine to be more of a box to box number 8, but given his tenacity and tackling ability, I think his best position going forward is more as a 6.

Thought John looked more ready to break through than the other two who came on with him ( white, Devine) . Real prospect

Definitely think Parrott needs a more challenging loan at this point, either to a lower end Prem team, higher end Championship team, or somewhere like the Bundesliga.

From the games I saw, Skipp was more of a number 8/6 hybrid leaning towards an 8, where as McClean was more of a 6. I remember reading an interview with Skipp and he said Farkes's biggest criticism of him was that he needs to get forward more.

I definitely think he suits an 8 more than a 6.

He has to prove he play in league one first, he was average at best at Ipswich. Maybe a loan at a mid table Championship that plays the right way, be he wont get game time at a top end championship team, let alone a lower end PL team.

Right back from the academy. Started against Orient too.

Edit: sorry, he's a centre back and didn't start against Orient. Apart from that it was a completely correct post.
Also, he isn't from our academy, we signed him from Arsenal's......but apart from that.
