This. Considering nobody here knows anything about the situation, it all seems a bit hostile..

Again - it’s absolutely moronic from the club not to put something out there. If it’s that he had two weeks off for paternity leave and is doing double sessions to get back fit then say so. If he’s got a knock from Dier’s tackle in training, just say so. Don’t let this keep hanging out there.

I could swear he's had more good games than bad ones in one of our shittiest teams in recent years.

He's discussed like someone who came in and never put in a single good performance.

There's no sign the club wants to get rid of him, either. Until he's still missing after the season has actually started I feel this speculation is slightly unfair. Even if it's down to the fitness as has been tje issue for two season, it doesn't follow that the reason is the same or that there aren't new extenuating circumstances this time. And we don't even know that.

He really isn't. People have praised his good performances. But there haven't been enough of them for the price we paid, the salary he's paid and the time he has been on the pitch in peak physical condition.

I honestly still don't know what his best position is. I don't see where he fits in to our side. He is a luxury player and we are nowhere near good enough to be carrying other players inefficiencies in fundamental areas like effort and fitness.

He doesn't influence the game enough as a central midfielder and isn't fit enough to play as a 10.

So i don't know where he's best played. I would personally move him on.

No doubting Ndombele's ability, but his fitness really is becoming an issue now.

If I'm completely honest, I don't think we've seen anything like acceptable returns for the vast sums we committed to for both Ndombele and Lo Celso.

I'll concede Lo Celso has had various injuries to contend with, but as supposed starting eleven quality, they've both been bit part players at best, and yet again I'm left wondering whether this season will actually be the season where they can be frequent difference makers.

How long can this go on, who knows, but I'll openly admit that if they can't contribute on a more regular basis, I'd not be adverse to calling it quits if the right offers came in.

It's fine citing Ndombele has all the skill in the world, it means nothing if he can't work on his fitness to actually get on the pitch.

This isn't based on the talk of a newborn either, more as to what has occurred over the previous seasons.

Choosing between two of our big CM signings: Ndombele over Lo Celso all day long.
I don't understand why Ndombele gets all the shit here. GLC has been far more disappointing

He was practicing at the open training over the weekend. If he was in good enough shape before he left and he kept working out while on paternity leave he should have been fine to at least feature in the friendly.

Best we can hope for is a swap deal for a player we want. Gonna have to take a hit on this one. Excuses after excuses I’ve heard for him but being our most expensive purchase and amongst our highest earners we need to accept it’s never gonna happen no matter how much we want it or YouTube level flashes of skill, and cut our losses.

I would say both have been equally disappointing given the £100m ish that was spent on them

I've been a huge fan of his and consistently excused him since he signed but it does get to a point where if you're exhausting yourself to find explanation after explanation for his absences he's either incredibly unlucky or there is just a fitness/attitude problem.

Having watched the full open training the other day I thought he came across really poorly. Walked about looking sulky then got pissed off at Dier for making a completely normal tackle.

Probably my favourite player to watch in the squad when he's on his game and I sincerely hope Nuno can get a tune out of him but am increasingly concerned that there is a fairly significant underlying problem here, whatever that is.

I'm not even citing the fee we have committed to for his services. I'd expect any player, regardless of fee paid to understand what was required fitness wise and work their damn hardest to reach required levels.

Entering yet another season with maybe the same issues yet again cannot be overlooked.

Given the state of football finances in Europe, the club will know there is virtually no chance of off-loading him this summer, even if we wanted to.

Secondly Nuno would be incredibly brave to discard him after 4 weeks. This would be Mourinho-esque and I just don't see it.

The more plausible explanation is a specific fitness regime to boost fitness/protect against injury. By all accounts, he was carrying a niggle for a fair bit of last season which was, let's remember, only his second in English football.

Not playing in friendlies - especially this summer when so many other players aren't up to speed yet and new signings still aren't through the door - really wouldn't worry me at this stage.

Absolutely spot on!
This is a millionaire footballer who by all accounts can hire the best personal trainer, the best chef, the best dietician.
He has no excuse for being unfit.
It's a joke that he hasn't featured in any pre-season games yet!

Is he really going to be ready in just 10 days??

Ndombele is understood to be disappointed by the likely departure of his close friends Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko this month.

The Frenchman is a classic, temperamental gifted maverick of a player and the coach who can get him to truly embrace a challenge for more than a few months will have one of the game's best on their hands.

Jose Mourinho looked like he was getting somewhere despite his fractious relationship with Ndombele, with the midfielder fitter than he had ever been in his career, but interim head coach Ryan Mason was less impressed.

Ndombele isn't always up for the fight. By his own admission to football.london during a recent interview, the player explained that he had told friends he wanted to leave the club just a few weeks into the tough first pre-season he had under Mauricio Pochettino.

Then a few months into the Mourinho era - before the end of his first season - he did ask to leave Tottenham, leading chairman Daniel Levy to hold a meeting with him to explain Spurs' position and also how much they believed in the player.

Now, having just become a father for the first time and the two friends who helped him settle in England set to move on, another challenge faces Ndombele and another new coach attempting to unlock his incredible potential.

Ndombele is understood to be considering his future once again this summer, although Tottenham believe he will continue to adapt and they will see the best of him.

If you manage him too hard, he downs tools. If you minimally manage him, he breaks down. Does this guy have no concept of the word discipline? You are a professional footballer for fucks sake.

He is a brilliant player, but only somtimes at this current rate. Such a frustrating player because you know he could be world class easy with some consistent application and discipline. :banghead:

We won't get back anywhere near what we paid/are paying for him unfortunately. Therefore I'd rather we persevere with him and try to get a tune out of him. We all know how much talent he has.

Though if someone out there gave us our money back I'm not sure many of us would turn it down.

Him or Dele is our best chance of a 30 + mill sale.

I love him pure baller.

But literally let's sell.

Enough now FFS !!,

Personally don't think he has the mentality to fulfil his undoubted ability.

We're not talking a transitional first season are we, he's about to start his third season and still he has potential issues affecting his ability to be a key member of the team.

How long are we persevering with this. o_O

I can easily, and often cut players slack in my opinions, but the bare basic requirements are pretty hard to defend when not met over a more than fair chunk of time.

we'd be crazy to sell him now - no-one has any money in europe, and he could still come good in a big way this season. that said, if he doesn't improve at all this season, it may be worth considering next summer when we could actually get a good fee
