That's another competitor out of the way...

Yep now it's just *checks notes* Real Madrid if they don't get Pogba, Juve if they don't get SMS or Rabiot, Atletico if they decide he's their Rodri replacement, ManU if they don't get (insert every midfielder on Earth here)... easy.

i cant really see who else he would go to

Real Madrid if they don't get Pogba? Juventus also rumoured today. He could also decide to stay and wait for a bigger move, like De Jong. Let's not get ahead of ourselves but at least we can tick Man City off the list.

Juve looking like getting Raboit, the Pogba think will run for a few weeks i think and Lyon will want the money sooner rather than later

Atletico are signing Llorente and Ndombele says he prefers us over United and Juve. The only real opposition is Real Madrid, but its very big opposition.

That's just not true though is it? He hasn't said that.

I swear there have been reports in Italy that said he'd prefer a move to the prem, with City being his preferred choice. Maybe he would like to go to United, but there has been no where near as much noise about it as there has been with us Real and Juve.

Ok but Ndombele didn't 'say' it.

It doesn’t make a difference if competitors aren’t in for him, at the end of the day all that matters is Levy paying the asking price, the Lyon chairman ain’t no fool & won’t buck the price.

Seeing City ramping up the Rodri interest makes me feel even more confident, no other clubs are being linked to Ndombele the way we are, I think the cycle of press is very favourable for us atm.

Why are we assuming exactly that this guy is going to be one of the best midfielders in the world and is already an incredible player? He was £7m last summer. He's had one (very) good season in a league that made N'Jie and N'Koudou look like attractive prospects. Don't get me wrong, I'll be very happy if we sign him, but I think we need to contain the expectations a little.

2 good seasons**, looked amazing against City, Barca & PSG. UCL team of the season as well. Also based off the clips I remember Njie and Nkoudou never looked like they were anything special. Maybe you’d find a 2 min video of them, there’s literally 20 min highlight tapes of Tanguy on YouTube.

It’s part of the desperation because we haven’t signed anyone. I’d be concerned if we sign him for massive money and he’s not outstanding straight away. As we’ve seen with Sanchez, if the player doesn’t keep up very high standards, there’s a section of our fan base who will write him off immediately and want him sold.

The £7m fee was set in summer 2017, when Ndombele was 20; it was a buy-out clause as part of a loan. Two seasons as one of the best midfielders in Europe aged just 22 is quite ridiculous.

The Njie / Nkoudou comparisons are just weird. They were cheap, worth-a-punt types. This would be signing one of the biggest prospects in world football.
