Yeah marca may have only been reporting for a couple weeks, but others have been for ages
Well, Léquipe reported Real made the first offer 16 days ago. So I still think my point stands. It's all happened very quickly and more or less in just a week or two.

And to Trix point - i'm not so sure about that at all. Mendy is regarded as a WC talent in his position and according to Léquipe had offers from Napoli and Barca at the time Real made their first offer. I doubt a talent like him went without competition. We know the transfer fee ended up being 48M Euros + bonuses which is quite a lot more than the initial fee reported by Léquipe 16 days ago at 30-35m Euros so it seems like Florentino basically found the middle ground and just got the deal done instead of going back and forward for a month or two trying to save a few million.

Marca first reported Real were interested and looking at Mendy as competition for Marcelo on the 1 of May. (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D84exguXUAM3H0_.jpg) (Not that they had contacted Aulas yet) so given that he completed part of his medical before the last internationals, he's been a done deal for well over 1 week. So depending on when Florentino contacted Aulas, we're talking about a maximum of 3 to 1,5 week of time.
Surely you’re not that naive

I'm not sure how well informed you are but this is all well documented by most tier 1 sources in Real as well, if what I posted in that post isn't enough.
But the fact is it was still being reported weeks before my other news outlets

Does anybody understand that Real Madrid is...Real Madrid??

They are in their own league - financially, historically. They are the pinnacle of club football for most every player.

On the field, in one match, everything is the same. But in the off-season, looking financially, holistically, at the whole picture - we still don't compare to Real Madrid.

Please don't compare anything they do in the transfer market to us. It's frankly embarrassing.

For what its worth - tea leaves from our last two big transfers. L'Equipe was first to break us being in "talks" with PSG over Moura on or about 01/18/18. British Media (Guardian - David Hytner) didn't pick it up until the 24th/25th of January when it was reported that talks were "progressing" and that Moura had been shown around the training ground and that Spurs were "hopeful". The Transfer didn't go through until the following week at the deadline. With respect to Sanchez, first media leak of "talks" with Ajax was actually in the Sun on Aug 10, 2018. Then it made it to the Guardian (Ed Arons) on August 14 when it was reported that Levy was going to Amsterdam that day and Spurs were "confident." Was concluded on August 23.

For both of the last two big transfers, it's taken about two weeks from first leak to closing and about a week after a semi-reputable journo close to the club uses a word like "hopeful" or "confident". So I don't even understand what this thread is tail-spinning about right now. Get a freaking grip.

The only thing I think worth any measure of concern is that Hytner's article for the Guardian two days ago that "talks" had begun over N'Dombele spoke of a large price gap and didn't use words like "hopeful" or "confident." I haven't seen a word like that from a "journalist" not at Sky. Aligns with ITK that this isn't necessarily any better than 50-50 at this point.

Dan Kilpatrick (who has a very good track record) has said we're confident of agreeing a fee, as has Miguel Delaney (who has a less-than-stellar track record, but it corroborates Dan's report)

bit early with the meltdowns on both this and the lo celso deals we have had no indications that either deal is off and that we are about to be shoved up the ass by so called bigger clubs.

As it stands we are still in with a shout of signing both players. No itk has really suggested otherwise let’s just chill the fuck out for a bit ??‍♂️

Agree- let’s kindky collect our shit we’ve been flinging about today from the metaphoric walls of this thread, store it in the shitter with EMERGENCY labelled across it, and only when this goes tits up, can we break the glass and commence flinging said shit once more

Their desire to ramp up financial interest in him has zero interest to suitors, especially at the crazy price he thinks he can get. I am quietly confident as things stand. More optimistic than pessimistic.

It’s June 14th. I dread to think what the state of this place is going to be like in August.
