Probably. Obviously.

"I was there..."

Well obviously you weren't, or you had your eyes closed. ;)

Not sure what is hard to understand, he probably said he'd play through it, I don't know I wasn't in the changing room, however he was obviously injured, any rational person at the game could see that by the fact he was struggling and basically limping around.

It's funny how this Hillman Imp can twist and turn leaving everything in his wake. Pretty good on cornering too.
There is no limited view on this Hilllman. Its top notch.
Difficult to spot great quality.
May not tick all the boxes but he is tremendous in what he does do
Did you spot this early too?
Of course as a coach of 1100 games it is something I do ok. Sure he has that x factor, can turn on a six pence, surge like Henry or Bale and find the gaps with his passing. However, if he was a sports car I'd just paid a record amount for, I'd be seeking some reassurance that he was 'fit for use' which is one definition of quality. Seriously, we are not wrong to be a bit disappointed at this point, knowing he can get fitter.

You are going way OTT - we signed him for 5 years not 5 months, players from foreign leagues take time to settle into the Premier League, we've seen it before many times it's hardly a new thing, bit of patience wouldn't go amiss, if you don't have any patience set your expectations a bit lower.

Patience? It’s nearly 2020 lol. And don’t give me pace of the EPL. That’s not fitness. Its an acclimatisation to playing style thing. It’s the fact his fitness is shitey. Period. That’s like a given for a pro footballer. You need to be able to last for 90 mins. Basic tools of trade stuff right?

Do you think that playing in an over 50s league requires the same fitness levels as the Premier League just because they’re both 90 mins of football? No. The pace and intensity has everything to do with it. The high intensity efforts, the total distance covered, metres per minute would all be considerably higher than he would’ve covered in the French league. So your body does take time to acclimatise to that. Weather his body ever will, the jury is still out on. But to say 90 mins of football it’s the same thing wherever you go is absurd

Interesting thought. I wonder if THFC factored that into his valuation and asked Lyon for a ‘lack of fitness’ discount. I mean there must be a reduction in value because French footballers don’t run as fast or as much as English ones.

So let me see - we paid 60m quid for a player on a 6 year contract who won’t be match fit for the first 12-18 months of the 6 years?

Yes, I can see how absurd that is.

Well If he had been dominating the premier league as much he had the French league at 22 years old he would’ve been more than 60 million.. so yeh. Those things do come into account

Needs to get much fitter.

He's currently more like Ndombelly rather than Ndombele.

I am disappointed he is not fitter but I know what we have in quality with Ndombele and that for me over shadows that a lot. Class players are never easy to get. Maybe the price was cheap for Ndombele. The fact that you coached 1100 games is purely quantifying what you do. Are you saying that you understand better than me or other people here the quality of our players?

Personally speaking as a coach I really feel you don't understand the nuances of the game until you hit 1101 games.

Yeah, you are. It's utterly ridiculous that you lot put these stupid expectations on players based on a price-tag they have 0 control over - and expect immediate dividends. It has nothing to do with cars, no idea why you're rattling on about that, nothing to do with your incredible coaching record either. The guy has been injured and the club has been in actual turmoil all season - it's dumb (which I wouldn't expect from @Spurs_Bear) to expect him to have been setting the world on fire in the environment he's found himself in, just as it's lunacy to expect him to be 100% when he's had two injuries.

He's nowhere near fat or lazy either, he famously has a languid running style. Something a vastly-experienced coach like yourself should be able to differentiate between being lazy.

Alongside your birth certificate, this is one of the most disappointing things I’ve ever read.

Good interview with Sissoko out there today. He's living with him and struggling with the language and his new surroundings.

It's easy to forget these lads are human too. Moussa says he's working hard so hopefully we'll see the best of Ndombele in the second half of the season. His talent is obvious.
