With all this “inching closer” maybe if Levy wasn’t such a shortarse we’d have done the deal ages ago.

I mean how many inches do they need (quiet back there!)...

I'm confused; it says N'Dombele's replacement- Jean Lucas- is a defensive Mid. Isn't Dombele a straight up # 8? He's a box-to-box, water-carrying CM in the mold of Moussa Dembele, no?

If that's the case it would be like saying "We got Wanyama on the way to replace Dembele." What am I not getting?

They’ve also got Aouar, Tousart and Diop, they’re not going to be leaving themselves short in midfield at all.

Actually pussy would be the right answer were you a Yank; after all, how much can I be getting if I'm faffing about on here 24/7 clicking refresh waiting for a signing that'll never materialize...

But you know what- Vitamin D makes sense as well- as I am holed up in my dark basement staring at a glowing screen whilst surrounded by empty cereal bowls.

Oh and tissues-- many of them used...

He played in a pivot a fair bit, so Lucas would just slot into his place in the pivot. If they keep Aouar they should still be fairly strong in midfield.

We play in a pivot, too-- but if, say, Winks were leaving we wouldn't be trying to land a DCM as his replacement, right? I mean DCM and CM are, in fact, two very different things, no? One shields the back four and almost never bombs forward (Dier, Wanyama) whilst the other is the guy who receives it from the DCM (or just gets it himself) and then sets about igniting our offense, either via passing (Modric) or dribbling (Dembele) through the opposition's defense, primarily in the center of the park- correct?

Not doubting you at all mate-- just honestly trying to figure it out. To me a # 6 is a DCM, period- a guy whose primary job is being a defender, while a # 8 is far more of a "Push it/move it forward/get us going up the other way"-type of guy, which is not at all the same thing. Where am I wrong? (And again: this is not said as a challenge to you-- rather just an honest question)

Won't believe it until I see him on the back.of Poch's jet ski hurtling across the channel.

Would be so awesome if that’s how they announced the deal.

Baywatch style.

Poch as Hasselhoff, rescuing a drowning Ndombele and instead of giving him mouth-to-mouth he gives him his shirt.

“Thanks gaffer. I will give everything for this club” etc.

Magic! Get it done igijedi
