I think Son is just trying to do too much. He's stopped doing basic things well and he's often going for big plays when he shouldn't.
And I think his mind is abit drifting elsewhere with his recent increase of commercials and endorsements, not fully focus on football IMO. Really very not him at the moment in terms of throughput on the field.

Alright, pepper me with negative ratings for this…

If someone comes in with a bid for Sonny this summer, we should snap their hands off. Especially if it’s a hefty one >£60m. His market value will never be higher and imo he’s not going to age well as his pace wanes. Love the guy to death but this would be a smart move.

Agree. Sad to say but I think we need to consider this.

I have probably posted several times in this thread defending sonny - but sad as it is, I sort of agree with this post. Son has fallen off a cliff this season in the biggest immediate decline Ive seen for a long while.

I would tend to agree based on his level of performance this season.

I'm not sure that move will ge there for him though.

I think he's looking a bit replacebale in this side at the moment but I'm also not 100% sure that's through fault of his own. It's really hard to know how different we're playing now to last season where he flourished but it's not really even counter attacking any more and it's slow, in front of the opposition and lacking of creativity with the ball and I don't think these elements are helping him. I can't remember seeing him making many off the ball runs through into space or anything as I don't think our play greatly warrants such movements.

I look at where he is picking up the ball and I think he can only really produce a bit of magic by running through a bunch of players or hitting a screamer from outside of the box so he's in a tough situation where he either rather boringly just lays it off to the side or actually tries something that will always have more of an element of risk than when he's closer to goal and increasingly able to make something of the chance. He needs to hold the ball up better and be more composed in possession and in his passing but that's not really Son.

Had to play with his back to goal the whole match because there was no ball progression from midfield or from the wingbacks. Not his game

I thought he played ok, was positive and beat his man numerous times. He just couldn’t find the end product, and wasn’t exactly inundated with options from teammates. There does seem to be a weird agenda against him swirling around from certain sections of our fans

He had a decent game, nothing more or less. He's playing like the number on his shirt, 7 out of 10 performances.
I do feel if Richarlison returns and we had Deki and Kane still fit it will be Richarlison replacing Son if he doesn't up his game.

Yes he’s not been playing well, however neither have the ENTIRE team, for the first 45 minutes, in the last 10 games …

I think getting rid appears a tad premature. Still got games to play and he can play a part.
The other issue is that if we do sell him what are we going to get instead? Just seems we will potentially weaken the squad.

not sure getting rid is even an option, how much are we even going to get for a player whose game is around pace, who is 31 soon

Whilst I agree with this bit, we need to remember 7 months ago he was smashing in a goal to become joint golden boot winner in the PL.

He’s in the poorest extended run of form probably since his first season with us, but I don’t think we should write him off as damaged goods just yet.

Still reckon it's more likely by season end that the consensus is "remember a few months ago when we were willing to let him leave... Wtf was that about".

But certainly take the point that we've held on to many players too long. I just don't think a guy goes from top scorer to rubbish in a few months. He's a streaky scorer - when he gets into a groove, strap in.

From a club point of view getting rid will not even be an option. The amount of revenue he brings in from the population of Korea and wider Asian market far outstrips any cost to us. Will his minutes and effectiveness reduce, sure, but selling not even a viable question

His first touch and technique has always been inconsistent and his dribbling has always been average.

He should focus on playing on the shoulder instead of coming short to the ball as often as he does.

It'll allow him to focus on his strengths and limit the amount that defences can push up.

Lack of goals is the least of his problems.

Surrendering possession and getting muscled off the ball consistently however..

Son is the epitome of a “purple patch” player where he goes on a run of games where he’s a world beater. He also has certain dips in a season which typically only tends to be for a few games before his form returns. Unfortunately this season, he’s yet to have that purple patch, only some mere moments like Leicester and the Frankfurt home games. Consequently his dip is lasting longer than usual and this is seemingly affecting his confidence. Hopefully he can turn it around soon as we need a fully firing Son desperately as we are entering a very busy schedule of games…

Needs to turn up soon if we want to get top 4.

If he's still not up to his past self by the time Richarlison returns, he should be spending time on the bench and see if he can have an impact from there.

But we need him to get back to form
