What has he said?
I won't link because I don't want to give them the traffic but he said Son's reaction was over the top and that he milked it for the cameras/fans/ref/etc. Absolutely embarrassing take.

But, for a while now, I have been bothered that players and managers seem to think they must show an extreme version of their emotions because of the comeback they will get if they do not.

The way Son reacted made it look like he thought football — the referee, the authorities, fans at home and in the crowd, opponents – was going to come down on him like a ton of bricks, even though we could all see he didn’t deliberately go out to cause Gomes’ injury.

Collyless is a fucking prick. Shit click bait article. Truly shocking that he thinks that. And the idiot commenting at the bottom of the page...well.

Son needs our full support. He is one of our stars and one of the very few currently showing any sort of desire and enthusiasm. However and this is just a tiny criticism of him this is the second time he has reacted and lost his cool slightly. I dont think he would have attempted that tackle was it not for gomes barging his arm into Sons face few minutes earlier

He also reacted to lerma

I hate the fact that that elbow happened just before and everyone and their dog are using it to paint Son as some sort of ****. We know him as the nicest person in the world but he has this streak of hotheadedness in him. I don't know what his disciplinary record was like before he joined us but I'm sure he's mortified by picking up 2 straight reds in 12 or whatever matches.

And yes, obviously he'll be mortified by the injury as well. Something else I hate is that we have to infinitely apologise to Gomes every time we want to say something about Son on twitter etc. The reaction to this tweet...

... is infuriating. A Spurs journalist talking about the mental health of a player received abuse from all sides because he didn't mention Gomes (who we already knew had successful surgery) and also he tweeted the quote, which had the phrase "the player", verbatim. Do people not know how sources/quotes work? It's not like Son rang him up and referred to Gomes as "the player" (although Dele did a couple of times last night in the post-match interview to be fair).

I’ve never seen collymore play so I have no idea if he made any similar challenges as a player but almost every player I’ve ever seen play has been guilty of a late or vengeful tackle bar maybe Eriksen or something (lol). He grew up in the days of Roy Keane and although the bloke literally actually did end a mans career everyone still sniffs his ass because he’s a hard British type who’s won it all. Hypocrites. Son should definitely take some responsibility, not disputing that, but that is a trash take.

Appeal or not, I've got zero faith in the FA to overturn this after the shambles we've seen this weekend with regard to interpretation of the rules. Dele handball should've been a penalty but wasn't contrary to everything that's happened since VAR came in, there were maybe half a dozen incidents all over the country this weekend. Needs sorting but no faith.

just read the Stan Collymore column. that bloke is a grade A tosser.
Hislop at espnfc video also titled something along the line of Son should take responsibility for Gomes injury. Just couldn't understand why some people just not able to have some empathy for another human being who is obviously so traumatised and guilt-struck by the accident immediately after seeing the severity.

Like my ex boss always said, 'could have, should have, would have make everyone a genius.'

I have a feeling Son will want to accept his suspension to be honest. Hopefully he doesn't blame himself but he may feel it's fair he takes a suspension. He may need to recover mentally anyway and he may be a bit reluctant to put a strong challenge in for a bit.
Serving out the suspension might actually be good for his mental state. People feel better if they believe they've attoned for actions they regret, even if the penance is not necessarily proportionate or legally correct.

It’s a good thing there is an international break coming up, spending time back in South Korea could do him good

We live in a blame culture nowadays, where there is no such thing as an accident anymore.

I blame the fucking millenials! :cautious:

I think they have to overturn it or surely it sets a precedent. Every time there’s a serious injury it would have to be a red card.

Accepting the suspension would be an admission of guilt IMO. He didn't break Gomes leg. He tripped him which deserved yellow.

Exactly- are they going to retrospectively issue a red card to the Brighton player for crossing the ball which led to Lloris’s serious injury?
