Scott Parker has not given up hope of keeping Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham this season.

The left-back is a £20m target for Tottenham – but boss Parker insists the relegated Cottagers have yet to receive a firm bid for the teenager.

With next Thursday’s transfer deadline looming, the manager is hoping that situation remains unchanged.

‘I expect him to stay’

And Parker insists the 19-year-old – who is recovering from a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of tomorrow’s trip to Barnsley – would have no grounds to feel frustrated with Fulham if he misses out on a swift Premier League return.

The Cottagers boss said: “At this present moment I expect him still to be here.

“Obviously there has been a lot of talk, but I haven’t had one conversation with ownership here to say otherwise, in the sense of another team have approached us.

“And there is now a week to go. So for me, I’m looking at him and thinking let’s get him as fit and hopefully he can help us this year.”

‘Phone not been off the hook’

Asked whether the youngster would be in the right frame of mind if he remained at Craven Cottage, Parker added: “That would be up to Ryan.

“It’s not as though the phone has been off the hook and there has been a bid every other day for Ryan Sessegnon and the club are turning it down for him to have the hump.

“The one good thing about a transfer window is that when 5 o’clock comes next week and the door shuts, you can’t go anywhere.

“As a player you either get your head down or you don’t and it affects you as you go on. But Ryan’s not that boy anyway, I don’t see that as an issue in that sense.

“And plus, at this moment in time, there is nothing to suggest otherwise.”

"We don't want to reveal interest and we don't want any buyers to know we have intentions of selling him. Therefore it's better to state that we expect him to be here so that the interested buyers get their act together and make a bid inline with what we are demanding. Oh and of course I've spoken to the owners about this but do you think I'm stupid enough to reveal that?!"

Sounds pretty spot on

In all honesty I don't care about getting Sess this season if it means we can get BF, and GLC. He's a kid, who I doubt will have much impact this season. We can let him play at Fulham, build up more game experience, and then get him via tribunal next season.
GLC and BF will be players for us now.

I doubt there’s any relation between the signing of Sess and the others.

I think Sess may only be in relation to Rose. Even then we have been chasing him since forever so it feels like once we get the fee down it'll happen, regardless of what's happening elsewhere. Obviously the issue is getting Fulham to stop being so unreasonable.

Doubt he has any impact on the others and agree that he’s the least needed this season.

However, if we don’t get him this window, we aren’t ever getting him.

There’s no way we’ll match the wages that will be on offer in the free for all, and I’m sorry to the unicorns and rainbows crowd, but his “desire to play for Poch” will not end up carrying the day up against a huge pile of cash from Paris, Germany or ManU.

That’s why a buy-loan back for a price a few M above the estimated tribunal fee should be the sensible solution for all parties here.

We pay an xtra 5-10M above estimated tribunal for the certainty of getting our man for the future. Fulham gets a little something above tribunal and keeps him for their promotion campaign. He gets valuable playing time that he wouldn’t get with us.

Makes too much sense for the parties to actually consider it though.

Sounds like the management are keeping him out of the loop as they haven't had one conversation about a club approaching them which is obviously not true, I don't know the details on any official offer but to say there has been no approach isn't true, either he is lying or they aren't telling him anything.
I don't believe him either way.

Dan KP at standard saying we want this done regardless of Rose
Good, we need both.

There will be a time when Rose is hurt and we normally have to play KWP or Serge at LB. He'll also be able to find time at winger as well.
