The following article (https://statsbomb.com/2019/08/tottenham-hotspur-2019-20-season-preview/) speculates on a possible formation as follows:

"We could also see back four systems with Juan Foyth at a right back/centerback flex position as the left backs push up the field more in a lopsided formation."

In other words, that LB could be Sess having more freedom to play as a winger, although technically as a LB in a back-four formation.

Could Foyth do the sort of job Southgate was hoping Kyle Walker could play at the World Cup? He's the RCB of a three, but can be pushed up a little more than the others while, as you allude to, Sessegnon could operate as a more conventional LWB.

If you think about those 'average player position' charts they rarely end up symmetrical, as neither team has possession uniformly from left to right over the course of a match. Maybe we need to worry less about the starting positions being symmetrical and formations being far more fluid/dynamic.

Ideally, Rose stays this season, RS plays mostly LW. Then when Rose leaves next summer RS can go to left back and Clarke takes the wing spot.

That worked fantastically well for us when Modric first arrived. BAE would push up high, Charlie would stay deep and narrow, almost a back three, and that let Ratboy drift in off the left.

Of course it helped that we had Azza in front of Charlie, a player who really understood how to support his fullback. Miss those days...

Really interesting read. Hope they are right about the return of the 'Poch press'.

Good signing for the price. Going forward he looks great, but certainly ain't the finished article defensively.
Gotta play him further forward imo. Don't think he's ready for starting LB.

I think sess will have a bigger impact this season thsn most most other people seem to think. Perhaps a delli alli kind if impact is a tad far fetched but i think we will be very pleasently suprised.

Remember he will be playing in a team that is dominant in most matches and on the front foot attacking. This will suit his style to a tee.

He has such potential at 19 years old. Going to be a great for us.

Last season wasn’t the best but he was in such a poor team. The previous season he tore up the championship and we were talking ridiculous money for him.

Massive signing!
