Again, don't think anyone is suggesting we should keep Bergwijn or that he's the better player! The guy clearly wants to leave and Richarlison is an upgrade - my opinion on how much of an upgrade he is is clearly controversial but am certainly not denying what most people in this thread are saying about their comparative qualities.
I think the big problem with your argument is that it's fine in a bubble but that isn't how the world works. Richarlison has a certain value to Everton and Bergwijn has a certain value to us. It doesn't really matter how good either player is because their monetary values are not based purely on skill/quality.

Quoting a stat such as GA per 90 is sort of clutching at straws to try and give weight to your perceived value of the players. I think that particular stat puts Bergwijn above Kane and Kulusevski so it's pretty pointless.

Son had 53 goals in 160 appearances in his first 5 seasons in the PL.
Yeah but son has always played on the wing i think, and is better now then before. richy has played as a
Striker many more times. I mean richy had been a regular and probobly started all those 153 games. So to compare him to bergwijn is pretty stupid in fact.

To be fair to Bergwijn, I’m nearly certain that we had ITK during the season that the reason Conte was picking Lucas ahead of him was that Lucas was committed to the project whereas Stevie wanted out. If that’s true, it isn’t necessarily the case that Conte doesn’t rate his ability.

I’m personally in the camp that Bergwijn is being underrated on here and that Richarlison is overrated, but the debate is academic. At the end of the day Bergwijn is leaving and we have to trust our recruitment setup to get his replacement right.

Conte knows what he needs for his system, and oftentimes that means functional players over flashy players. It’s easy to see why Conte would like him. Regardless of any shortcomings, Richarlison is certainly a grafter and a fighter. There’s every reason to believe he will provide Conte what he’s looking for.

Oh, I agree about player valuations completely - if I was Everton i wouldn't be letting him go for anything under £60m, and I wouldn't be letting Gordon go at all. If that's what he's worth to them then that's what he's worth in the market. Whether he's worth that to US is a different story and is subjective.

Also, stat was quoted directly to provide context in response to someone saying Bergwijn was shit because he played 60 games and had X number of goals, when in reality he's probably only played 30 90s or something.

Bergwijn has never really played like he wants to be here...and that's all we can go on...

And Richarlison I'm sure will give everything.

Bergwijn is a good player and better than Lucas. I wish we were upgrading the latter rather than the former but it is what it is. But I do think Bergwijn is silly to believe next season at Spurs will be just like the last. Clearly with the fixture list, CL football and 5 subs he will probably double his minutes at the very least provided he showed commitment to Conte.

Matt Law just posted an article saying Chelsea are seriously considering a bid for Raphinha. Looks like we might have a free run at Richarlison now.
