I have never understood any of the hype behind Gordon. That's before he acts like a plank when coming off. He's lucky Eddie Howe is a nice bloke, but even he may hold a grudge after that.

He’s still a kid. Howe will drop him for a few games and that will sort him out.

Probably another rodwell/Barkley - looks great in a poor Everton team, but shocking with better players around - and this clown, looks to hve a shocking attitude to boot.

I must have watched him about 20 times now and still never seen anything better than a 7/10 performance. A grade A bell-end to boot.

I never got the hype. From what I’ve seen Alex Scott looks way more talented than him in regards to young talented English players. I’d also take Gil over Gordon any day and i remember some were suggesting we replace Gil with Gordon,

Gordon’s hype is all from what he could possibly become rather than what he currently is. He’s rapid, quite skilful and a decent striker of the ball, he’s got the raw attributes to become a good player but he’s not very close to doing it yet and if he will is another question, not sure he will tbh with the shit attitude he has and he’ll likely have better players ahead of him constantly from now on at Newcastle. Could turn out to be a bad career decision for him

Yeah I think that's a really good point. Everton were so shockingly shit and slow last season that a kid willing to run around like an absolute mad-man and shoot at every opportunity really stood out.

I think he’d be a bad signing for Chelsea or us.

I could be wrong but I think he’s decent, nothing more. He looks better due to playing in a very poor side.
I think my judgment was likely correct. A bit of pace and skill but I just don't see a potential top player in him.

Never understood the clamour in the first place and if I was Howe I wouldn’t be picking him in a squad unless I had to for the rest of the season.

You would hope. The goal is not punishment but to help him become a professional and do it quickly. If he's smart, he'll learn.

That's possibly a little bit harsh on Rodwell who was unfortunate with injuries during his early 20s, which must have had a significant impact on his development. Man City made the mistake of ignoring the obvious warning signs that he was injury prone.
Perhaps £15m was considered a very affordable gamble for City (that evidently didn't pay off), considering he was a young player who was performing very well whenever fit. It certainly seems far less of a gamble than £45m for a winger (Gordon) who has only racked up 7 goals & 3 assists.
I was relieved when rumours of our interest in Gordon didn't amount to anything last summer...even at the reported valuation of £25m rather than £45m.

Fun fact:
Rodwell contributed more goals and more assists for Everton than Gordon. This is despite Rodwell playing as a deep CDM, not a winger, and being younger than Gordon was at the time he departed.
