Not sure about that, Sarr bossed the midfield under Conte against Milan, he is much more athletic than either of the other two and does the defensive work.

Before that game though PEH and Bentancur were the preferred duo, Conte never uses more than 2 midfielders and these two kept us in the hunt right up until roughly Christmas. Don’t know why everyone seems to think that Conte did Sarr a disservice, he already had to try shoehorn in Bissouma pre-injury, and stuck with what was working besides that. It’s what any manager would do.

Now we employ a different system that requires 3 midfielders and less defensive minded tactics which allows for more dynamism in midfield.

It’s really not that deep. This isn’t aimed at you BTW more the idea that Conte did something wrong by not choosing Sarr ahead of others.

We definitely need to increase his pay and get him tied down for a few more years, my star player of the season so far and I’ll keep banging that drum, he’s the best young midfielder in the Premier League right now.

Class.

Ffs though....African Cup of Nations coming up...and Asia Cup for Son.

So annoying these competitions can run then when we pay their wages.
Think Deki will be in the 10 position when they are away. Him Lo Celso and Skipp/Hojbjerg will be our midfield. Just hope Maddison gets back by end of Jan. at least there are two cup rounds plus a free weekend during that time.

The same sit back and do nothing tactics that had more points at this point of last season as we do now? :ROFLMAO:

With the best striker in the world getting us out of trouble single handedly on most occasions. It wasn't sustainable.

Look at the quality of football, the mood at the club and the general connection with fans now. Should tell you everything you need to know.

Because after that MIlan MotM performance (even with Bentancur injured), he barely played at all.

Yeah, because comparable points tallies is the most important thing.

I've seen this thrown up a few times of late and it really is such a pointless thing to say because it's missing so many aspects of where we now are as a team.
Fuck Conte.

Pape could potentially miss five matches if Senegal win AFCON for which they are favourites , will be a big miss .

PS . AFCON is from 13th Jan to 11th Feb if Senegal reach final he would miss Man U away 14th Jan, Brentford home 30th Jan, Everton away 3rd Feb , Brighton home 10th Feb and probably Wolves home 17th Feb.
Really need Bentancur back to fill one of the midfield spots during this time.

I agree.

It is also incorrect, 16 games under Conte last season we had 30 points, 16 games under Ange this season we have 30 points. Nicdic has kindly provided a head to head thread and only one result is not equal or better, West Ham if I recal correctly.

When you consider we have a manager only 16 games with the team in this league and is a rookie at this level, the exciting brand of football and the injury crises. I would argue it is hard to say the comparison is even close. Compared to Conte who had a year under his belt at Spurs and a previous spell in this league.

The culture shift, the style shift, everything is better.

Personally for me Conte did a reasonable job and had some tough personal issues that may have impacted him but regardless it is the past and if some fans can't see all the improvements and want to hark back to a mardy Italian who didn't want to be here, so be it.

Anyway Sarr, give the boy an extension. Absolute class for us this year

The same number of points.

And we had the best striker in the world at the club.

And one point from games against the top teams.

I understand the comparison, but it doesn't paint Conte in the light you think it does IMO.

Imagine being on the opposition team, seeing the likes of Sarr and Kulusevski on the Spurs team sheet. You've got to feel exhausted already before the game has started. Absolutely fantastic!

Was very tongue in cheek, it’s just a weak narrative to follow about the tactics when it’s just a different system with different needs. Sarr didn’t fit that one, and he fits the new system like a glove.

Akin to Salah at Chelsea IMO
