My issue with him is he never tracks back and is always cought out of position. One of the reasons Aurier has such a awful time is Lucas is always drifting in and failing to track the runners. Don't get me wrong, Aruier is full of mistakes, but playing with Lucas ahead of him must be a nightmare. Moura is so incredibly inconsistent, 1 in ever 5 games he will play well then it's back to the usual overcompensation. That right side is a mess because we have two players that struggle to keep focused for 90 mins. At least Lamela always tracks back, if he is fit he should be starting at this point.

I can't believe how easily he gives the ball away. He is so poor when pressed, bar the odd occasion when he beats a player or two, he generally when under pressure from a press, just aimlessly gives the ball away. LIke the football is a hot potato.

We've got one player doing that on the right, then we have Alli doing that in the middle, then we have Son doing that on a bad day. On a good day Son still gives the ball away, just not quite as much. Our front three behind Kane are so poor in possession, Son makes up for it with his end product and directness. There is no way Jose is polishing the turds in the team, we need signings.

Son does at least try to get the ball back when he loses it. The one thing that annoys me most at the moment is every player seems to want the ball to their feet and if it doesn't they throw a paddy and instead of running to get it back they just flop their arms to the side and stand there. I want to see players go to the ball instead of waiting and yes ideally we want accurate to feet passes, but the problems (which we get taught at grassroots level when we are 10 or so) is that players need to show more desire to be first to the ball.

Lucus is a great sub and squad player - stretches defences towards end of games.

He is a keeper on those terms.

His passing has been truly atrocious these past few games. So, so many moves broke down thanks to him underhitting or misplacing a pass, not to mention all the times he overplayed it or ran down blind alleys.

I can definitely see now why Poch was so reluctant to start him. He's good for individual moments of genius and the odd eye-catching run through the middle, but he's utterly brainless and so often makes the wrong decisions.

As many of you have already said: decent squad player and option off the bench, but we're fucked if he's starting every week, especially with Alli and Son on the pitch, who are both also guilty of giving the ball away cheaply - particularly the former.

After last game one thought struck me regarding Moura:
This guy looses the ball waaay to often. And when he lost the ball it gave southampton a chance to counter.
Yep, his first touch is too heavy especially when he has his back to the goal or to a defender and he's not particularly strong like someone such as Salah is for a similar height so the ball just bounces off him constantly.

I like the guy but he's a very niche player and really don't think he's good or consistent enough for us.

I think he should be playing through the middle like he did in the 2nd half against Ajax in the number 9 position. He is wasted when out on either the left or the right.

I think he should be playing in Brasil or France or Holland places where there is time to ponce about he will very rarely get the time he needs to show his skills in the premier league . in short not good enough along with a few others .
When I think of Moura and Ndombele and other soft midfielders I then think back to Norman/England/Mckay/Mullery/Roberts /Miller/ any one of them type of players would add steel to our team it seems to me in the main we have a team of snowflakes.

He’s been bad but when was the last time he’s played this regularly?

Must be a while and it’s obviously impacting him. Saying that, he’s always blown hot or cold. PSG wouldn’t of sold him for £20 million if that wasn’t the case.

I think playing in one position in a settled 11 would help no end.
Having to play in a different position with different players around you every match doesnt help anyone.
This is why we look like a bunch of starngers out there. They are!
And training isn't the same as playing.

Apart from the goal he proved yet again he is no better than an impact sub, can't believe how poor his short passing is.

He has to be the most frustrating footballer ever he’s useless but then for 2 minutes every game he turns into a messi love child and beats like 8 men why is he so inconsistent

His touch is awful, his passing is pretty poor but he can occasionally beat a few players and get a decent shot off.
seems like a lovely little bloke but nothing moura than an impact sub for me ;)

The geezer literally couldn’t trap a bag of cement, he has the touch of a bouncy castle. No wonder our build up play always breaks down with people like him and Alli in the side.

Exactly. Not being funny but there aren't a million reasons why we are so rubbish at creating chances and keeping the ball. There's only about 5 attackers on the pitch so you don't have to look very far to see who is causing the problem. If you swapped out Alli and Moura for two better technical players who can actually keep the ball and short pass well, we'd have a far better fluid attack. We already have a direct pacey wide player who can't keep the ball well, and that is Son. It should be one or the other, and Son is better. Playing both in the same team and then putting a slow waste of space in Alli there, and instantly your attack turns to shit. Yes they will all score the odd goal, but being a fluid consistent well constructed attack? forget it.

Much better from Lucas vs. Liverpool, and I am on of his biggest critics. He was better than Dele and Son combined.
