Tanganga had a good game - but once we get another CB, for me he will be in shop window - Japhet struggles to progress the ball - he did well today though. Personally dont think he is good enough to be starter for top4 0r 6 team.
Hope he can prove me wrong - for now, I hope we sell him, incase some english club is going to offer 15-20m and reinvest.

He was ok today, definitely his best game since Conte came in. I do however agree that he needs regular game time to really kick on.

Disagree, he’s English, home grown, never moaned about being in that back up role. Will be better covering the left side than when Sanchez tried. Rodon leaves first.

Like most of our “deadwood” it now seems that when they are integrated into the 1st eleven, rather than all changed with no 1st teamers, they can play.
Makes the Transfer Window even more interesting!!

Certainly too early to consider getting rid of him.
He's young, homegrown and has shown enough potential to stick with. What's the point of an academy if we give up on the youngsters so bloody quickly?!

Soon to be 23, with a manager like Conte, Japh can end up being a really solid CB for years to come. It's clear that he's preferred to Rodon and I don't Conte allowing Tanganga to leave in January, even on loan.

This has nothing to do with him being English - He is not a top4 or top6 starter. Rodon ofcourse goes first.
Tanganga goes for me, if we get a 20m offer.

Tanganga gives his all for the team - I dont doubt it - but IMO, once Jan & summer window will be done, he is going to be well down the pecking order. I cant see, Japeht learning to play technically well by then. It may sound harsh - but we have to sell him if there is a good offer.Thats the only way we will progress as a squad.

Being English does not mean ‘nothing’ when building a premier league squad.

it has everything to do with him being English given the homegrown squad rules

hes not on big wages. Academy player. Good attitude. Perfectly good squad player to have around for the long term

Even the top 3 sides and the title winning teams in history had players like this filling their squad out

His a good player, we have spent a lot of money on players far worse, he will only get better, he plays 2-3 positions for us. Conte has turn deadwood back in to good useful players I’m sure given a year he will be a far far better defende.

To be fair though, plenty of the youth watchers have sung his praises for ages, so I think we should put some weight on their opinions too. They've been watching him develop for years, whereas most of us have only seen a few disjointed performances.

I don't think we should write players off so quickly. If we listened to SC for example, we should be getting rid of Japh, Sess, Royal, Gio, Bryan and half the bleedin' squad.
Some of which we've only seen a handful of times.

Nor is Rob Holding, Nathan Aké or Callum Chambers. Every squad needs cover and Japh can do a job in a few positions, is home grown, on relatively small wages and seems to be happy with playing a bit part. Of all the people we could do without, for me Japh isn't anywhere close to the top of that list.

The 3 examples are wrong ones in this context...

Chambers hasnt kicked the ball since Sep & Holding had his first start against Norwich after Sep. Both are not Arsenal academy players either.
As for as Ake, Chelsea sold him for 20m...like what I am saying for Tanganga...

I am not asking for Tangana to be sold tomorrow - I am just saying, his game time will go down once we get new CB in Jan. For me, he is not technical enough to be regular. So, IF there is a offer of 20m will sell him.

We certainly have good prospects in our academy, especially in CBs. Paskotsi is one such example - 19 next season can step up and do a similar role to Japeht and try to take his chances.

We have been at fault in past of wasting academy talents - like KWP - not giving chance and not selling them on time.

So, IF IF Japthergets a good offer in summer, I dont have any problems in moving him off. We can backfill from academy.

Were not getting a new CB in Jan, we have 6 already, even if we sold one were not getting another
