What about tanganga now ??? He will be loaned in January? He can be useful thanks to his adaptability in all the defence positions and we have a lot of games to play but I think that the defence is well covered and I don’t see place for him

He needs to focus on getting his body recovered from a series of tough injuries first.

I don't think Tanganga will be loaned. Once he's fit he'll likely be thrown into the deep end to challenge the senior CBs for their spots in the first team, just as Jose had done with him throughout last season.

A Rodon-Tanganga partnership could provide a very strong balance and I think could lead to one of Toby/Dier/Sanchez being displaced from squad next summer if they do not step up.

Rodon isn't Tanganga's challenge, it's his injury record. As someone who can fill three positions defensively he'll be perfect to have on the bench and will probably get game time and fill that role for a year or two until he hopefully takes a step up.
Besides, it's better for Tanganga to fight for his place against another young player - it would be worse to do so against a £50m+ signing who'd be almost undroppable.

On a side note I really liked Tanganga on that Amazon thing.
Was great to see someone so chuffed and humble. And his Dad bursting with pride.
I really hope he has a great future at Spurs. Certainly has the ability imo.

Competition is never a bad thing, he’s a good player and signing Rodon can push them both on as players. Think Davidson should start to feel the push on him until next season and possibly more

Totally forgot how young Sanchez is, still only 24. And Dier is only 26. Neither of them are really in their primes yet...I think they both have room to improve, but still nice to have a young core at CB with Japhet + Rodon also there, 3 British players as well.

I think they could this season even tbh.

I don't think we could have such an inexperienced partnership in the league. Maybe against some poor teams in Europa, but even then I'd prefer one of them alongside an experienced head.

Maybe he and Rodon could be our CB partnership in 2-3 years??

History suggests that if we want to win things our CBS should be aged be 27-32. Experienced players make much better defenders.

Can Japhet be the answer?
I’m not bashing Tanganga whatsoever but genuinely what has he done to suggest he has such a huge future for us?

I can honestly only think of the Liverpool and Middlesbrough games last season and the chelsea game this season. Other than that I don’t recall watching him play that much at all? Has he ever actually played centrally in a back 4 for us? I seem to recall most of his appearances being at left back or right back...

I’m not saying he won’t turn out well but I get a sense of ‘one of our own’-itus on this.

When he played Centre back I remember him being really good. Even when asked to be L or R back he did alright and then injured. I remember one dodgy game. Don’t think one of our own comes into it. He is a great prospect hindered by a what seems a significant injury.
