It was fine when it was revolutionary. When everyone started doing it it became dull and ineffective. I think it was around that time when our decline started.
AVB's style of football was very similar but I swear that man had me 100% convinced football was broken. I lost all love for the game because he convinced me it was too difficult to get a shot on target.

This sounds like the beginning of Modric all over again.

I think we will see a move to the 4-3-3 when we have the personnel to do it. You sit Lo Celso and Ndombele in front of a midfield enforcer and we will unlock both of them. Ndombele should be the more forward midfielder of the two, but Lo Celso will have more freedom to dictate play and chip in in attack.

That's at least my theory.

There are definitely similiarities between Modric and GLC I think and youre right. We will see the best of GLC I think next season but dont htink it will be with Ndombele although may well be as part of a three going forward

Still too early to rule Ndombele on the outs. We don't have the structure to accommodate him at the moment, but it sounds like we have a plan to address it.

I actually think Ndombele at the 10 and Lo Celso in a deeper role is the better option.

The best option is each of them being able to attack space and move into higher positions throughout the game. Two number eights with the ability to unlock a defense and score goals... a man can dream.

For me that's the only way to get them both in the side. But, I am not desperate to see it. I'd rather see N'dombele gain enough trust to compete for a N.8 position than just accommodate him into the team.

Im not worried about GLC. I think he has all the qualities to operate in the MF of a top-5 side. He wont look out of place in CL.
The trouble is he is the only MF in our team at that level, which is why we are a bang average side playing mostly counter-attack football because we can't hold onto the ball to release Kane and Son.
I think once people start to notice him more next season and he then proves himself at the highest level the one after that, he will be gone.
He has fire in his belly. He looks ambitious. I can't see him staying with us if we dont consistently get CL, and at the moment with what we've got, we won't.

Do doubt, Mr. Yet to prove anything Lo Celso is better than Son and Kane. Absolutely.

I agree with this. It works at times and it looks great when the field opens up but its all predicated on the oppositions balance and also our own fitness and fight, By itself its unsustainable.
You cant mask good football, incisive passing,creative thinking in the moment and a solid defence.
Poch's (Bielsa's) idea was to suck the life out of game then when the other team was tired it opens up,AVB's was not that different,Mourinhos is in there too. It worked this week because Arsenal threw their players forward so the counter was ripe.
