We won’t spend 50m on a LB! Or RB for that matter!

Yeah I figure that unfortunately. I guess my point is if we dont have the money then id rather spend the money on an LB than on GLC on the basis of what he has shown so far... then again he is clearly talented but just cant see where he will play if we have the same tactics. Anyways it is what it is

He did well today, away from home in a midfield 3 with no DM or defensive presence.

The lack of said DM meant he had to track back and get involved way more defensively than he should have needed to. As a result he was slightly restricted going forward.

What we need is a quality, mobile DM to play with Lo Celso and Ndombele in a midfield 3.

The DM would shield the back 4 and win the ball back, Ndombele would contribute defensively but mainly control the midfield with his line breaking and quality passing, and Lo Celso would then have a bit more freedom to push on and link with some kind of RB (if we get one!) and a proper RWF (which would be nice).

The combo of Ndombele and Lo Celso together in a midfield 3 with a DM is what will catapult us back to being a quality side.

I think it's clearly going to take a while for him to settle but he looks a talent. What was interesting was how much more dangerous we looked when Eriksen came on - familiarity perhaps?

He was neat and tidy today without making a huge impact, its clear to me his best position is just behind the striker. We dont even have a striker. Once we do play him in the 10 role instead of Alli and watch him flourish.

Thought in the first 15-20 in particular he was excellent, played a few of those lofted long balls that I'd seen him play so often in footage of him at Betis. After that I still think he was one of the better players, just wanted to try and make things happen when got on the ball and his passing was mostly quite precise.

Ndombele was ahead of him in terms of being settled into the side and showing real talent, but Lo Celso more up to speed with a returning Ndombele could be what we've hoped for from the two. Just hope Lo Celso isn't shafted out wide to accommodate Ndombele and that they can play together alongside a DM in midfield.

Ndombele, Lo Celso and a DM with Son on the left, someone like Ziyech on the right and a striker would be pretty damn good.

think if jose was given the option of spending the 30m(?) needed to make lo celso permanent or use the cash elsewhere then he would choose the latter. whether that would be the right decision or not i don't know.

Thought he did fine considering we brought a knife to a gunfight in midfield. If I could see him and Ndombele in front of a (real) DM I could die a happy man.

Weirdly his battling and work rate was good but in terms of what he's supposed to be good at he was poor. I guess good signs that he's getting stuck in and I think that will please Jose. I think he's getting acclimatised to the league now.

Would be a monumental fuck up IMO.

I think he is the type that will only really shine once Jose rebuilds this squad.
He isn't the type to get you out of trouble when the team is poor.
Put him into a city team and I believe he would come to life
Hopefully this time next year we will see the best of him in a proper Jose team

First time in ages we had someone in midfield linking and looking forward.

Not only that he showed his strength and defensive capability.

Very good performance

Getting better and better, but not really on the same wavelength yet as our forwards ( understandably).

He was very good today offensively and in DEF duties, i think the forwards are not on his quick wavelength if im honest
Yeah our movement up front is awful.

Our forwards are sooo frustrating. Moura, Alli and Son especially are very talented (in various ways), but they really lack footballing brains.
