I'd adapt city's 4-1-4-1 system were N'dombele and Lo Celso would take on David Silva's and de Bruyne's roles as 8 and halves were they can share the #8's and #10's responsibility.

I'd put Son wide left, Lamela wide right, our mobilest midfielder in the ferndanhino role at the base, winks/skipp, but most likely we'd have to buy a proper option.
That's where we find ourselves right now I think (not including a couple of actual fullbacks)

I'm all for signing him up permanently, but I don't think we'll see the best of him until he can play in his favoured position of no. 10.
That means ditching dele and I don't see Mourinho doing this anytime soon. Unless his hand is forced because of injury.
Hopefully Alli picks up an injury then.

Dele creates a real tactical problem for us. His best position is central just underneath a striker, but to shoehorn him there, we can’t fit enough other progressive players into the team.

Dele is amazing when he’s firing on all cylinders, but wretched anytime he’s not at the absolute top of his game. He’s an awful ball stopper for us and regularly kills our tempo.

It’s a real conundrum. Maybe the answer is for him to play as one of the front 3 on whichever side we can play a competent overlapping fullback so he can play more inside?

I dream of the day we can play a midfield 3 with a competent DM behind TN and GLC. That’s how we start progressing that ball with intent and winning.

Dele dropped to almost a CM when Lamela and GLC came on. What I liked about these two Argentines are their movements and quick release of the balls. Boro shape were wrecked when they came on as they couldn't follow through and get back into the shape any more, that's why we got so much chances of having the ball behind their FBs.

Dele becoming a CM collecting the ball from deep with Eriksen was refreshing. He played a few times there when he first started by Poch. I think its good his position is mixed up a little according to game. He is intelligent enough to play in a variety of positions and sometimes mixing it up my be better for him because for some, doing the same thing over maybe too boring for people like him.

GLC had so much confidence with his fellow countryman Lamela playing together with him. Really love their movements.

Spot on, or just play Jose’s 4-3-3 like he played at Chelsea first time round but that basically the same as the 4-1-4-1 you’ve mentioned.

good shout but I think Sander Berge could really do the job at dm. Strong, big, and extremely technical. Would adapt really well to the Prem even at 21 and adds more of a passing range compared to guys we've had in that role (Dier, Wanyama, etc)
Whilst I like Berge, I think his agility and his acceleration are already too close to the border of making him too immobile for a DM/CM in the the PL (unless playing for a team that defends deep and in numbers) and I worry as he gets older and fills out, that he will go the same way as Dier in that regard.

I get that and he certainly has a resemblance to Dier in body shape, but he's actually quicker than he looks. I just feel like he's unique and so far ahead of Dier in technical ability that a few physical concerns are premature.

The best holding mid in the world (Busquets) is slow as shit.
