It’s almost as if our window closing earlier than everyone else in Europe was a stupid idea.
It allows clubs to piss us about till their hearts content, stupidness I tell you.
Needs changing maybe domestic deals need to be done before season starts only? Or something

So far Betis has been owning Levy at his own game, you got to applaud it really.

Think that’s one of the big issues. Levy has such a renowned reputation when it comes to transfers clubs alway want to out do him... his reputation is really detrimental for the club as it’s making it really hard to sign players it seems

Should be transfers between English clubs only ending early, transfers from abroad in and out should match the continent

With nobody else really linked, and the window closing in a few days, I can’t see us failing to get Lo Celso as the alternative to selling him to us is to miss out on the windfall completely.

What an absolute mess this has become. If Poch has identified him as his main target I do not give 2 shits what he costs, Levy should just make the deal happen at any price. If the 71M Euros that is being reported is correct, it's not like its some utterly outrageous price they are asking either. Obviously a lot, and in my world, he should really be cheaper than Ndombele, but that doesn't really matter now. Give Poch what he wants no questions asked.

There's going to be a lot of this isn't there? I don't agree. We have limited funds, so there's an opportunity cost of every £ we spend, and we don't know what's being going on behind the scenes.

Let's leave it at that

Never happening - this is beyond even the Man City model (see the January 2018 Mahrez saga for reference).

Or just to wait six months to a year for said windfall. He has a long-term contract and is their asset.

City's slightly different in that they always end up buying five players despite drawn out negotiations and we've introduced one new player to the squad in the last 600 days almost.

In six months time he could have suffered a bad injury, Betis might have had a rubbish start to the season with Lo Celso the fall guy, anything could happen, see Fekir as a prime example, and countless others down the years.

Bird in hand is better than two in the bush and all that...

This is where I am currently. The bald one may have to up his offer, but there doesn’t really seem any other teams in for him.

This seems the latest from Betis media...and seems the more believable story today....

https://www.diariodesevilla.es/realbetis/Betis-Celso-Sevilla-pendiente-Camarasa_0_1379562210.html

i) Betis have arrived back from Morocco with Lo Celso included and proceed with their preseason plan as usual
ii) Spurs are the only team to make a firm bid till date. Other teams like Napoli &Atletico have other targets (James -RM) and have only made general inquiries
iii) Spurs submitted 52m+8m variables as latest bid
iv) Not accepted by Betis and they hold firm on 70m valuation
v) Lo Celso - Spurs have agreed personal terms
vi) Betis waiting for Levy to make the next move.
vii) They claim Levy is waiting for a last minute move by Eriksen to accelerate in other additions such as Lo Celso and Bruno Fernandes

Yeah, lets agree to disagree. I have had these discussions about our finances 250 times this summer. People need to realize we're one of the wealthiest clubs in the world. We're a bigger club than Juventus, for example, economically. We have not spent a coca-cola worth of transfer fees for the past two windows and we have, by far, the lowest wages out of the top 6. And yet, I see people talking about us and potential deals as if we're Hull or something.

With just over three days remaining, and with seemingly a basis of an agreement in place even if not the final result, I still retain hope.
