Was a lot of talk recently about having versatile players in squad. Having a guy who can solidly fill in at RWB or CM or RM is a potentially positive thing to have in the squad. He’s young and looks like has good work rate so maybe he can be coached into being that player.
Motm today and really positive game for him.

Not quite as clear cut as that, Herc stated that fee would be a lot lower as included a lot of non attainable add-ons.
Did he? I was going off an article from January.

I don’t know that he’s worth even £25m but if he can put in performances at RWB he’ll be very valuable this season.

Too early to tell but it would be useful if he transitioned into a right back , very similar to Rose going from central midfield/wide midfield into fullback. We're so well covered in center midfield he'll find it difficult to play his usual position. He doesn't offer enough in the final 3rd for that midfield role but from fullback could get a lot of use from him. As an understudy to a new right back it could save us trying to find the money for 2 right backs.

He'll certainly be tested a lot more than today and he's still developing anyway. Definitely interesting to see how it pans out though.

My post in the Oliver Skipp Thread back in July.

i genuinely think Gedson could be a great RWB. He's young, he's fast, athletic, strong in the tackle, good attacking ability. Maybe needs to showcase his crossing ability.
But all the raw ingredients to become a very good attacking fullback

Call me the super scout SpursKing!

Yeah, he looks like he could be the attacking RB option if we intend on doing the defensive/attacking fullback combo again this season. Still obviously a gamble so hopefully he plays a ton during this pre-season to get a better feel, but I thought he looked fantastic, even though Ipswich were pretty bad.

I'm not sure what everyone is expecting from Gedson, a ton of goals and assists? He's a box to box midfielder with a strong all around game. Hence why he was able to slot in defense and not look horribly out of place. He has all the makings of a great midfielder on the right of a midfield 3 or even as the #8 in a double pivot —good dribbling, passing, and defensive work rate. I rate him, and I think he will have an important role this season as he's clearly a versatile player.

I think he'll likely be a Lo Celso understudy [instead of a RB, hopefully] and play a similar role in Jose's midfield, whereas Dele and Ndombele will be the creative #10 / free floating midfielder.

He’s basically looking like a perfect Mourinho player: works hard, good technical ability, good frame (can still bulk up more hopefully, needs a little more strength) and he’s showing some great versatility. Great type of player to have within a squad looking to compete on multiple fronts.

A young guy, coming to a new country, lots to learn and take in and not just from a footballing stand point. He has now had some time to adjust to life here and if Jose see's him as a RB, how can anyone on a forum question that when you look at what he has won. For his first runout at RWB/RB i thought it was very promising.

Let's get excited about this rather than be negative. It's win win for us, we have a versatile player on loan for another year, that might just be the RB we are crying out for. Who knows? The only thing that can happen is it doesn't work, but he's hardly been loaned in to be our RB in the first place.

If we had signed a new right back, and he put in that Gedson performance yesterday, we’d all be over the moon with that as a first outing.

Important to remember this guy is only 21. He signed with us just in January. To have written him off already is simply embarrassing. He's clearly got something and there's a reason at one point he was rated as one of Benfica's best academy products.

Quality young prospect. We need players like him with that potential of growth, athletic, good engine, technically sound disciplined enough to follow instructions. He could be the diamond in the rough.

I never understand why players are so quickly written off it makes no sense to me especially when you can see their quality.
