Think Gedson has shown good cameos recently, Jose said he could play wide or possibly central, could he be apart of the solution if Ndombele isn't up to it?

Looks like with the Son situation he’ll be getting more game time.

You just know that if Xavi had played in England, everyone would have said "what exactly does he do though?"

We had it with Carrick for fucking years, even when Fergie won his last title with a team of half dead veterans and Phil Jones, with Carrick holding everything together.

To imagine he couldn't even get in the England team, honestly people will never understand this type of player because they are not blood and thunder or tricks and flicks.

On gedson the lad definitely has talent, really interested to see what he can do.

Scholes imo was the biggest embarrassment England made trying our best to shoe horn Gerrard and Lampard and forgetting how best to get Paul Scholes in the team.

Agree

Scholes was a great player in his day but he was never a left winger (Sven). That Carrick Scholes midfield 2 was dominant in that final season and won em the league.

We needed to drop either Gerard or lampard (or both) but we never did and we failed.

Going a bit off topic here but gedson isn't like any of the midfielders mentioned.

I really rate Fernandes based on what I've seen so far. Intelligent, skilful ball player. Has to start every game imo. As does Tanganga istead of Aurier and LoCelso when fit.

Tell you what; this kid could be a good midfielder possibly great. But look at his strengths; straight line pace, tenacity, agility, size, decent tackle good technique on the ball and a great cross, he has all the makings of a world class RB. It's a simpler game out there, its an easy position to train into; do it Joses!!!

I mean, I think he'll be alright anywhere if every single one of those is a strength.

personally I would like to see Tanganga at RB and Gedson can play right midfield knowing the person behind him can defend he crosses just as good as Aurier if not better

Love his potential. But that is what it is at the moment- potential.

Agree with ebz. Would have been cool to see him with someone that isn't useless at RB. Tonight he dropped too deep defensively and it caused all kinds of problems. Was it because of him or Aurier? Difficult to tell watching the game on tv.

looked so calm under pressure last night. Will be a real asset for us once he settles in.

cant comment too much on the second half as we were sitting in the east stand last night so saw him up close for first 45, was having to spend a lot of time covering aurier

Does some nice stuff and I think he will look better when he gets to know what the team are going to do and can read things a little better. Looks like a give and go type player with good aggression. Hopefully he can push on with the injuries we have as we will really need him.

Looked really composed last night given that he hasn't had many minutes. He's tidy, strong and has plenty of years to develop.

I like the look of him but he is still a way off being the finished product. Think we will see a lot more of him this season. Seems confident to take the ball which is always a positive, we need more midfielders like that.

were you guys watching a different match yesterday? gedson was completely absent, he tried 10 passes with a 60% success rate ffs. might have done a few good things defensively (unlike winks) but still was not good enough.

we looked so much better with ndombele on.

Definitely this. Looked like a lost sheep from what i saw (one very good cross aside). No composure on the ball, and didn't really do much to help Aurier (although some might say he was beyond help...). Hopefully Jose will get the best out of him in time.

what is this? He was asked to do a disciplined job on the right wing. Which he performed well. Pointless comparing him to a player who came on when we were 1-0 down and there was more space to play in.
