I wasn't really sure what my feelings were following his interview. This post has helped to clarify them a lot, so thank you.

One thing I do wonder about though is what Bale Hope's to achieve if indeed he does go back to RM next season. He must know that he'll never get a game under Zidane, so is he just thinking he'll sit out a season, pulling in squillions and playing Golf in the sunshine?
He has no ambition about anything at Madrid because he doesn’t plan to play for Madrid so he says he plans on returning to Madrid so that Madrid can’t use against him that he seemed to plan on not returning to Madrid. Makes sense?

Ali Gold is basically Spurs PR, or at least that's how I treat his articles.

That doesn't mean his work has no value, but he's hardly an independent observer.

Indeed. Clearly he has a particularly close relationship with our media team. To the extent that he essentially occupies a unique position, which is that anything the club wants out there but doesn’t want to release through official channels will come through him.

It would be the most Spurs thing ever though wouldn’t it, we’re all absolutely buzzing to see him come back but never get the chance to see him play ourselves in our shiny new stadium.

Are you suggesting I'm not always serious :wideyed::cautious:

And I didn't once say that hard work isn't exclusive to Mourinho, mate. Hard work in the right area, that's what it's all about. And although I don't have the figures to hand (or know where to find them) when he was recently given that little run in the team, wasn't he directly involved in something like 8 goals in 5 games?

Do we/Mourinho ask, or expect Hojbjerg to work harder in the attacking third of of the pitch, or criticise him for not getting up the pitch abs scoring more?

No?

Wonder why that is. :shifty:
Well if he’s continually putting these numbers up then you do have a point but he isn’t and when he’s not getting the goals and assists like in the NLD then what does he bring to the team?

He’s said it himself now that the purpose of the return is to get fit for the EUROS not leading us to glory so then that obviously means he’s going to hold back in games to avoid injury, would you want a teammate playing in the team when you know he’s not going to give everything for the win? As you should know, all our remaining matches are cup finals, do we really want a passenger in the team?

After this interview, I think it’s pretty clear who’s one of the player not giving a shit when we lost the game in the NLD and crashing out of Europe.

Nothing to see here. Just saying what the current plans are. Saying this means Madrid are still on the hook for his contract. It could force them to paying him off. If that happens he could play for anyone (assuming they want him) and agree this final big pay check. Exactly how his agent has rehearsed

I was thinking if Klopp has flogged Liverpool to death its quite a thing for them not to see that team win the league by missing last season.

OK. Well.
There are certain things you just have to say. And saying them whilst not actually meaning them isn't deceitful because society depends on you saying the right thing. For instance, when somebody asks you how you are, you are always "fine". Of course nobody actually is fine, but that's besides the point. Or when a lady asks you "do you like this dress on me" you say "yes, very much". Instantly. It doesn't matter how ugly the dress is. IF you've got a woman who appreciates you for telling her what you think looks good on her, do not under any circumstances let her go. And then, if you are a footballer who is on loan and the loan is about to expire and somebody asks you what your plans are, you say "I plan on returning and honour my contract". It's just the right thing to say.

Clearly trying to put himself in the shop window.

I wouldn't have been concerned if he has said "the plan has always been to go back to real", he's used the present tense about going back to Madrid so maybe that wasn't always the case?

It could be as much Jose / THFC not providing much assurances as much as him not wanting to come back though.
