Why is the Bale thread still in the Transfers section?
I feel pretty confident that we'll get him. Maybe Reguilon too. Fingers crossed.

I still believe Spurs missed the opportunity of a lifetime. Should have dropped the MJ photoshop and left it alone for hours. The internet would have crashed.

Oh my god. He’s home.

I'm sure you all seen this but Mr Gold saying (18:00) that RM paying all his wages while injured too. Maybe at an end now but shows how desperate that were to offload.

I think we forget that good as he was he wasn't at his peak when he left us, he got better.
I disagree, he might have got 'better' in a technical aspect but in terms of performance his last season for us was his best spell of football he had in terms of consistency and all that. In Madrid he was known for big moments rather than consistent performances.

I mean if we get that Bale back we'd be serious title contenders. From the period from late January to May he was probably up there with Messi and Ronaldo. I mean it was helped that the whole team was built around him unlike in real madrid, but those months he was by far the best I've ever seen a Spurs player play

His record in that period read
20 games 15 goals 10 Assists

And that's not even half of it. He was directly involved in 25 of 36 goals we scored in that period with him in the team, or 70% of all our goals came through him, and they really came through him! Most of those goals and assists were hardly simple passes or tap ins. They tended to be opportunities that he made for himself. It was real roy of the rovers stuff. For me, he left to early, I think he should have been challenging for ballon dors and I think having a full season of peak Bale would have helped his development towards that. I doubt he has many complaints though.

Now the Bale we get back, doesn't need to be close to that level. If he is even half that it would still be sensational. If he replicates that form, then frankly we should be winning the title. He was that good. We were a disfunctional team that almost qualified to the CL in a very strong year simply through his shear force of will.

His style has changed, but I also suspect that at 31, with his injuries his best is behind him. Which is absolutely fine. I personally am expecting him to be like having a player that is, maybe, 70% of what Son is ability and productivity wise. That would be a fantastic signing to me. Though it wouldn't surprise me if he has a world beating year.

As is mentioned a lot in Spain, no one really knows how good Bale is right now, his performances the last two seasons have been disappointing, but there are extenuating circumstances. Before these two years Bale was somewhere between peak 2013 bale and 2011 bale in terms of what he showed on the pitch, though stylistically more resembling the former, whose game was already moving away from tireless running down the flanks. I am excited to watch him play but am checking my expectations into what I feel is more realistic.

That was a great season and he certainly had an enormous effect on everything we did that year so his ability shone out but I don't think he got worse the next year or following years. Real Madrid won four European Cups and they wouldn't have done that without him.
That's how good he became.

I'd be delighted with a 1-0 off Hojbjerg's arse to be honest. The Newcastle travesty has really hammered home the value of 3 points. If we were sat on 9 points like we so desperately deserve to be, we'd be looking really healthy. Wins against West Ham and Burnley are both vital to keep us in touch of the top.
