Considering how maligned he is, that's probably the third game this season he's given the best performance on the pitch, which is more than you can say for almost the entirety of the squad. If only he could bloody cross ffs :banghead:

And people still want Conte out. That's something us couch commentators would never invent.

Emerson did exactly what Conte asked him to do.

That's most you can ask him to do after all.

Good lad.
I like the tactical change it was clever it helped us gain control, want to watch it back and highlight Emerson’s efforts to show

Better when he moves to midfield than out wide since he can't cross or dribble. One of the few players that doesn't look tired after 15 minutes, love his energy.

this was the first time, at least in my memory, that this movement was done - him stepping into middle while deki hugged the touch line, and then underlapping again to provide the option.

was much calmer also, a few occasions, we saw the Brazilian in him as he tricked the opponent and kept possession

Not forgetting he worked so hard today, up and down and getting many tackles spot on

really proud of his resilience to put in such a performance, massive props!

Really didn't see anything special tonight, so these comments are baffling me a little.

He was okay defensively, but going forward (mainly in the first half tbf) every time the ball came to him we either lost it or the attack broke down.

Second half he was better attacking, but there was more space.

Looks like I'm in the minority though!

I do wonder if it’s no coincidence that these two good performances have come away from home?

I just hope the supporters lay off the boos next time he plays at home.

once again, he's not shied away. if we were to get Porro, I'd keep him and bin Doc.

he's got a great attitude, and will definitely be useful in certain games.

i can't fault his attitude one bit.

Agree with these comments, he had a really good game tonight. Him sliding into midfield and Deki staying out wide, while not the usual Conte strategy, seems to work/balance well.

I think you owe it to the guy to watch the extended highlights.

I’m not a fan but he never goes ‘missing’ in a game…not much to hang onto, granted, but it’s something….we can still upgrade though…

One of the things I noticed from him tonight - his inside runs, which helped draw defenders, and also gave space to Kulusevski on the wing.

I'll always love his effort and enthusiasm, but it does seem that he is taking some coaching on board, and trying to affect the games in different ways. He may never be a great ball-crosser, but if he keeps putting himself in good positions, good things will happen for the team.

If the rest of our squad showed the will and desire that Royal has, we wouldn't be in such a state.
Say what you want about the lad but he keeps trying and I like that about him.

Again showed the reason that Conte trusts him. He may have his flaws but grit and determination to improve aren't among them.
