When will fans finally establish that Conte is the manager who has done fantastic with this club in his first year so deserves faith in whoever he selects

There’s a difference between questioning the overall impact Conte’s has made on the club (which has obviously been great) & questioning his selection of an individual player.

We can have faith in the manager, but not in an individual player. That’s the difference.

Its only natural to question things when results / performances haven’t been consistent.

Nobody should be immune to questioning ?

I just hope at the very least Doherty can earn back his starting spot, because as shown at the end of last season, we are much more dynamic going forward, with him & Kulu linking up.
I could've sworn it was Emerson Royal who we had at the end of last season linking up with Kulu when we were playing so well. Doherty was injured.

Strange how memory plays tricks on us, isn't it?

Doherty started in the following games, where we was playing very well …

4-0 Vs Leeds
5-0 Vs Everton
2-0 vs Brighton
3-1 Vs West Ham
5-1 Vs Newcastle

Maybe your memory is playing tricks on you ?

It's ok to ask questions but come on the way people categorically state things like it's a given fact he should not play it's a bit ridiculous. There's not questioning going on at all, just people saying he's wrong and that's it.
This isn't just simply a case of "I don't think he's the right option for right wing back" but it's more like "it's Contes fault for selecting him, when will he establish he should not pick him" etc. It's just people putting Conte down for selecting him and it's a bit embarrassing really given everything he's done. There's no middle ground when people don't see any of the good that he does and keep banging on about him needing to be dropped.

I do think he’s been overplayed this season to an extreme level, when we’ve had two other players waiting in the wings.

It feels like because we’ve seen so much of him & so little of the other two, that’s where the clammer for change comes from.

The majority of us trust Conte & his choices, just this one imo seems a bit baffling.

As I’ve said previously though, the fact that Doherty/Spence can’t force their way into the team, maybe there’s something behind the scenes we aren’t privy to, which is preventing them from making the spot their own ??‍♀️

You’d like to assume that Conte will want a RWB in January, which makes the future of the current ones we have uncertain, with the amount of them.

I absolutely agree that there is a wider issue at play with the criticism of certain players, maybe with similar distinguishing features, by 'fans'.
I think this is a dangerous and unnecessary leap. Plenty of players with different distinguishing features to Emerson have had similar treatment.

If I'm reading your point correctly.

The thing is he has clearly improved in the final third.

People have real short memories; we were struggling in a CL game a couple of weeks ago (Marseille) and I believe he came on and we were much better in the 2nd half turning it around and qualifying top of the group. This is a reason why he is ahead of Doherty at the moment.
Bentancur was the main reason that game changed not Royal, good grief now all he has to do is not make a stupid mistake to gain recognition, lets just accept the fact that he is a full back playing wing back and he is not good enough at it, he is not near good enough, teams know to target him and with Romero out teams are even more aware that Dier/Royal or Sanchz/Royal can be got at.
If Conte doent want fans at him then stop playing him and give others a chance, and while I agree paying punters have a right to voice their opinions, it doesnt help the situation.
Has to be a priority for strengthening in Jan.

One last thing I don't understand about the visceral dislike for Royal - every time I see him, he has a smile on his face, he is happy, getting on with all of his teammates, not a bad influence in the dressing room. I never hear of off-the-pitch issues He is exactly the kind of player supporters should be proud to have representing the team.

Its fair to say "We need to upgrade RWB" - its not fair to take it out on Royal.

You have to wonder what sort of effect it has on his team mates too. He seems popular and well liked in the squad and the other players must be hurting to hear him get such abuse. Hopefully they'll work out that it's just a bunch of entitled wankers and not the fanbase in general. It's tough on Conte too because he has to put Emerson through that if he thinks it's right for the team, and if he drops him it seems like the wankers have won. Can only hope we sort a RWB out asap for everyone's sake.

I’m actually okay with collective boos (you’re allowed to be annoyed) but to harangue an individual like this is way too far. Players can’t just have bad runs of form anymore, they have to have some mental deficiency or personality flaw. Sick of hoping players can find a better environment somewhere else.

I've stopped engaging posters that post as if they have access to the clubs player medical, fitness and training data. The truth is they are only guessing based on their own bias as to why things do and don't happen. Imagine getting irate every week because you let your own imagination run wild.

Looks alright to me. Two footed as well. Shit haircut admittedly. Was that the problem? Did the fans disapprove of his shocking barnet?
I watched Pratt play loads of times and I never thought he was terrible.

Here's a thought. How do the fans let Conte know that he is an idiot for keep picking Emerson?

Maybe think about that before moaning about the sarcastic cheers

Here's a thought, why don't the fans act like actual fans rather than entitled toddlers.

Maybe think about that before posting such ridiculous nonsense.

No need to apologise.

Did you want us to play Doherty while he was injured? Do you think Spence must be better right now just because you don't rate Royal?
As a fan i would like to see Spence given a chance, wouldn't you?

Or are you happy with Royal's performances?

What are you talking about?

Answer the question, how can the fans let Conte know that they do not want Emerson to play?
