It was around the time he was taking a few throw ins. No one was moving into space and there was a moment where it looked like he was going to flip. Did a lot of pointing and shouting at one of our CBs too
Good. Happy to see someone gives a shit.

All a bit weird for a young player on his club and premier league debut, who's been with the development squad.

Speaks volumes.

Probably thought why are all these fuckwits standing still, it's an answer we would all like to know.

He did not look that strong to me. Sorry.
But MP bought him to be at least backup to Walker, so let him play the part.
What is the worst that could happen?

I've watched Yedlin for years now and what you saw tonight in limited action is pretty typical. He usually plays hard and acts like he gives a damn. He will make mistakes defensively, and sometimes get caught a little too far forward thinking his pace will make up the ground. I expect this to continue for a while in the premier league as he adjusts to the escalation in pace and skill from MLS. However he seems to be a natural attacker who will make some surprising passes and dangerous crosses. He isn't content with just crossing the ball into areas where people should be and instead keeps his head up and often makes passes to someone making runs toward the near corner of the box. IMO He is rarely the reason an attack fizzles out. He didn't get a real chance to show his tremendous pace in attack but he is best when the ball is played out in front of him rather than carrying it forward himself. He will probably infuriate quite a few of you while he adjusts, So be prepared.

The way he's been playing lately, Walker should be a backup to Yedlin... Anyway - It's the kid's first ten minutes ever in England, what were you expecting?

Was hoping to see him bomb forward but either he couldn't find the space or was told not too.

Hope to see more of him before end of this season. Saw a glimpse of pace when he raced over to tackle Benteke (who we should sign).

I'm expecting that we see him a lot more of him to make a better judgement, as this season peters out.

It would be harsh to say he got caught out of position when we were pushing for an equaliser and he was probably told to get forward, there wasn't enough time for us to make any kind of judgement. His debut was the most exciting thing that happened though (y)

Think he would be ideal in 352 formation with Rose on the other side...

That could be a good shout but after seeing him fly into that shoulder barge on Benteke and remain intact, he could still be able to hold his own in a back four. Anyone got a gif of that?

I saw him flying all right, after that shoulder barge as if he'd hit a tree.
He certainly is brave.

I couldn't tell if the cheer was for the fact that Vlad was finally being binned or for this lads debut. I know what my cheer was for :cautious:

I don't remember if Benteke even noticed him to be fair, it did make me laugh for a moment during all the doom and gloom though, so for that I thank him (Yedlin).

Here's a pretty good cut of Yedlin's every touch from his debut. From the loud ovation from the fans, which was great to hear, to the final whistle.

Made 1 mistake with the slip, and was caught out of position once or twice, but he was pushed up the pitch as we were desperate for a goal. Looked absolutely annoyed as fuck and baffled with the piss poor movement on his throw ins. Made a nice pass to Bobby creating a half chance.

Hard to tell if the pass to Bobby intentional or if it was an over hit pass aiming for Lamela. If it was intentional, then fantastic pass.

Part of me thinks that if that pass was intended specifically to go Bobby with that pace and placement....then the vision and touch required would mean he was being wasted at FB as opposed to somewhere in the midfield.

Alot of people feel he's being wasted at RB. Personally, I think he'd be wasted as a winger because lacks the end product as he's not going to score much. Strong crosser and can make those passes like the one to Bobby, but he wont be shooting much. He's also too strong defensively to be a winger. IMO he's best as a wing back in a 352 or as an attacking right back like Poch's system needs.

Yeah the live angle looks like it could have been an over hit pass. Hard to tell with that ange. But the replay angle looks more like it was intentional. That's what i was going by, but it could also well be an over hit pass.
