We were linked with a Junior Firpo the other day, wouldn’t mind if we could get him in if Rose is off.

Rather keep Rose though.

What i'm keen on too but we're venturing into a lot of spinning plates and not a lot of time to do it, plus the HG nonsense complicates everything.

Guys seriously if this is true and he's no longer with us we are in Barney. Dependable, talented, warrior LBs aren't exactly growing on trees.

Eriksen/Toby I half expect; Danny Rose no longer our Left Back- otoh- is highly unnerving.

KWP, Sessegnon, Dier, Davies, Winks, HG keeper, Skipp, Alli, Kane with Jack Clarke to come in at a later point surely still enough HG?

It's not HG i'd be worried about, more that we'd be signing a lot of foreign players to replace ones that had been settled here for a while. I think it might take a year for things to gel.

Dier doesn't count nor does Skipp (have to be over 21 if you're club trained. So that would leave us with 7 which would be fine. Only allowed to have 17 internationals at that point.

I hope he’s not having personal problems again but I think it’s more likely we are selling. It’s been on the cards him leaving for a couple of years now.

No but Poch likes to grow his own and he arguably made Rose the player he is today in a lot of ways, so I fully trust him to do the same with another young LB.

ITK did say we need to move players on and there might be surprises. Looks like more is going in than we thought and only hope it’s with the right new players waiting to sign for us.

Was it not hinted that Rose would possibly be offered a new deal but it would be weighted heavily in our favour regards clauses etc due to him having not exactly having been shy in chasing other suitors in the past.

Counter to that is that we've an agreement with him that in light of his struggles with mental health if he feels a move is the correct thing for his wellbeing then we'd help him find a club but they still need to meet our valuation etc.

I'm conflicted with Danny, firstly I'm fully supportive of him regarding his mental health (been/am there, have the t-shirt, it is truly a horrible thing) but I've never been his biggest fan the reason's for which are many.
Purely based on his fight and attitude this season I'll miss that but for an ex-winger his final product is poor and let's not sugarcoat it this isn't one season of no real end product it's several, for all his years of service to the club I'd thank him and I'd wish him well with zero ill feelings. If he stays then fine.

I've said for 2 or 3 seasons now we've needed to upgrade our fullbacks on both sides, if you seriously think that's not the case then look at 'pools FB's; deliveries from all angles and all varied and most of them accurate not to mention consistent. (in fact why aren't 'pool getting raided from the Spanish giants for their top players?)

Losing Rose without a replacement would be incredibly negligent, no question.

He's one of our best players on his day, and one of few players (along with Kane, Winks) who's properly Spurs.

People are biased against Davies because he’s a run of the mill white guy. He’s not worse than rose and certainly more consistent as well as younger. I don’t see the point in selling Danny though, they’re plenty good enough as a pair

I think people are against the idea of Davies as first choice because he lacks the pace to play the wingback role, not because he's a white guy. He's been a perfectly suitable backup and I think could transition to become a quite decent CB as he gets older, but if it's still the case that Poch wants the wingbacks to bomb up and down the pitch providing the width to the attack, then Davies is not an optimal fit for that role.

I’m not sure him being white motivates people’s reactions to him

Davies is nothing like Rose. We play a high press game and are reliant on our full backs to both provide width and have the physical endurance to run up and down the wing all game. Rose can do this, Walker was exceptional at it both neither Davies or Trippier can do this. In saying that Davies is a very good defender but he runs in treacle.

There’s zero suggestion we’re going to lose Rose without a replacement. We’ve always had two full-backs on each side since Poch’s second season.

Congrats mate, silliest post of the year. I swear you’re normally a decent poster, but now I just don’t know.

But if the "replacement" is Sessegnon, then we're in an even worse position in full back areas than we were last season. No doubting Sessegnon's potential, but at this level he isn't a LB and hasn't played that position for over a year
