Very strange situation with Danny Rose not being at training. Hints possible at some sort of falling out with Potch? Given all the other players have been back at training. Be sad to see him go. Hard to see where he would go in the premier league. So guessing it maybe abroad.

Rose will be looking for a big final contract, similar to Trippier, as it doesn't look like we're going to offer it to him it makes sense to cash in now rather than let him go for free. I think he forfeited any chance of getting a new contract when he had his little tirade a couple season back.
A problem is replacing him though. Davies and KWP isn’t enough and Sessegnon would be another inexperienced and largely untested option.

On the one hand, now is the time to sell him if we want to get value. On the other, do we really think we can get a comparable replacement considering all the other business that needs to get done in the next three weeks?

So Rose, Tripps, Toby all potentially leaving, three first teamers and from defence - I know our back line wasnt the best last season but Rose and Toby leaving would not be a good thing. Tripps has not been good enough but I respect the fact he has always given 100%

I did raise my eye brows when Davies was given an extended contract
Really? That was just common sense. Very good rotation full-back, and his contract had been running low. There was no scenario where letting his contract run down was smart, even if we aren’t planning to keep him in the long-term.

Many of us will be very sorry to see him go but it does seem there is a very clear policy not to renew contracts for players 29 and over now and that if we get offers in their final year then they'll be off. I do think it's a mistake to let him go as he was back to his best towards the end of the season and has at least two top seasons in him. We shouldn't make too many changes to the XI either.

I’m not sure if it’s a fixed policy as I have a feeling that Jan will be offered a contract extension.

Don't think we can read too much into it at this stage. He's obviously going to be here for the next year or two but after that we might look to sell when he hits peak value. The contract will help in that regard.

Davies as our starting fullback for a season and Sessegnon to rotate (n)

Davies is a great backup, not a good enough starter for me.

I love Danny Rose and the intensity he brings to the pitch.

It would also enhance his value should we decide to sell him in a couple of years.

Ally Gold said he's hearing he's not on the tour.
Ah right, CE has said he wants to leave and by all accounts he is going on tour so unless a deal is imminent, as in next couple of days, then I don’t think we should read much into Rose not going.

We were linked with a Junior Firpo the other day, wouldn’t mind if we could get him in if Rose is off.

Rather keep Rose though.
