Has anyone actually watched him play? I don't bother watching YouTube videos but it would be nice to know what can we expect from him.

Very quick but more of a runner than a dribbler. Then crosses into the danger area. He's good, but not spectacular. That being said, we are missing top end pace, so he could be a good fit.

Funny I’m sat here waiting and hoping for this signing (rather bakayoko) when most other deadline day signings I’m begging for were the likes of Dybala, skriniar, vlahovic etc. oh how we’ve fallen

Different landscape now with Ange. He's like a chef who knows what ingredients he wants, how to combine them and how it will taste when it's done. Conte and Mourinho only wanted top of the range Ready Meals.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't underwhelmed by Johnson but my hope is that this is one of those data driven signings that I can't appreciate yet, so it's my ignorance rather than a bad signing. I've said before, I feel he lacks some bite but I actually, for all of Saka's quality, before Arsenal turned the corner, wondered whether he was too nice to play for Liverpool but would fit in at Man City, where Pep seems to really prosper with players who seem soft hearted. Nothing wrong with being soft hearted but on a football pitch, you do want players who will be assertive and stand up for themselves, Salah and Mane had that bit about them. In any event, it hasn't done Saka any harm thus far and I never expected his finishing to get as good as it has, my hope is Johnson improves in a similar fashion to Saka.
I think a lot of us are hoping that he will be elevated as well, so I wouldn't feel ignorant.

What he will bring is hopefully a different option to what we are getting from Kulusevski at the moment, so whilst he might not seem like a first XI upgrade, I think he could end up being just that if he fits into Ange's style of play. Equally though, he could fade out as a squad player... always a risk I guess.

One thing he does seem to have is bags of energy. If he signs we will have to hope he is more Lamela than Holtby!

This looks like it will happen to me. Hudson odoi has just gone for his medical after being at the forest ground.

tbf I just looked up his stats for last season and for a 22 year old kid in his first year in the Prem they look very decent

8 league goals and double figures in total

I’ll zip up until the deals done and we’ve seen him a good few times 👍🏼
He reminds me quite a bit of Ollie Watkins.

Put him with better players I think he’ll look really good.

Like this kind of signing a lot, it’s the type of signing we used to make that helped make us ‘successful’ under Jol, Redknapp, Poch etc.

I watched him in their playoff games the season they came up. Very quick and busy - his pace scares defenders. His finishing is very up and down. He seems to fare better in front of goal when he’s got less time to think about it but that’s not unusual in young players.

I expected someone to pay big money for him at some point but didn’t expect it to be us as we so rarely spend big on that profile of player. He’s still a bit raw but there’s plenty to work with already and he’s young enough to get much better.

One other thing to note about Johnson which could be very useful to us - he hasn’t missed a game through injury in 2 years+. I’m sure I’ve just jinxed him but usually players with his pace have hamstring issues and all sorts that would have kept him out for a few weeks at a time over the last 2 years. He’s just been able to keep going, including in the Championship when you are regularly playing 3 games a week.

I'm actually pretty intrigued by this signing.

Feel like it's one's of those ones that really could improve the overall dynamics of the team.

Always remember the prime Aaron Lennon days. Looked way more dangerous with him in the side despite some of his limitations.

Can just see 'deal collapses' at 9pm
Every journalist now ramping this up that it's moving quickly. It's still early in the day. Other deals I could see collapsing but this one doesn't feel that way
