Nottingham Forest turn down £35m Brennan Johnson offer from Brentford

Tottenham are also understood to be monitoring Johnson’s situation carefully, but it is only Brentford who have put a significant offer on the table, with Thomas Frank remaining a big fan of the 22-year-old.

That's two new forward links today in Tel & Johnson.

Something is definitely happening with Kane then.

He's one I would be intrigued by. I don't know a ton about him, but young, homegrown, athletic, and can play right wing and striker. Eight PL goals as a 21-year old in a bad team seems pretty decent. But, I've also always been assuming if Kane leaves we aren't signing a mega-expensive forward as replacement and would get a younger, high-potential forward instead; within that context/assumption he seems to fit that profile.

I've always liked him. I thought he'd do better than he did last season though. Both us and Brentford have been linked with him for a good 2 years.

are Brentford spending Raya or Toney money?

Could be implications for us, without us being truly interested in Johnson...

Really good prospect but only signed a new contract last year and Forest aren't strapped for cash so would expect a hefty sum.

In other words, this isn't happening.....not this summer anyway.

Very good young player had a decent season and can play anywhere across the front three . Would take 50m for Forest to even consider it I would say

I just don’t see it with him, was expecting way more last season from him. For the money they’d want, I’d be hoping we’re looking elsewhere.

I have to imagine we’re quietly making a lot of inquiries about strikers right now, and the only ones whose agent have some incentive to leak it (new contract negotiations?) will hit the papers.

Not good enough in my honest opinion. Couldn’t even get a start for Forest in the latter part of the season when the going got tough for them.

if we sell Kane and sign players of this level then we’re looking more and more like a mid-table side by the day.

Hopefully this is just another bullshit journo non story

We have monitored him for years but I really don’t see why.

he isn’t a cheap £12m punt.

hope we steer clear at £50m.

He’s a good player but he will cost us double what Atleti have offered for PEH. The market seems so skewed.

He’s another one like Gibbs-White that’s produced a few moments and now people clamour for him but he’s really not good enough generally. Do I see a good young player? Yeah. Do I see a player good enough for us and worth the money his club would ask for? No.

Honestly at this point since we are selling Kane. Let's just get Toney over Johnson, have Toney integrate and learn the tactics while he can't play and hit the ground running in January.

I doubt we’ll sign Toney look how the negotiations for Raya went, which is fine, but it won’t be an easy signing

I think he's bloody marvellous. He looked dangerous as a cf but it's as a wf you can see why he's worth the money.

He's prem proven too and going to get better.
