Spurs also remain interested in Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson and are weighing up a bid that could involve them offering the Midlands club a choice of Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Bryan Gil as part of any deal.
If Kane is staying no way this is happening. We have Son , Kulu, Richie, Soloman on top of Harry and with no Europe, I don’t see us spending 50m on him

We still need 2 players for each position, with those 5 we're one injury away from having a single attacker on the bench.

Still think in terms of a homegrown squad competition option he's not bad. Provided we can get a good price. Spence as part of it would make sense if he's not going to play. Especially if we get a non homegrown centre back instead of Tosin. Only homegrown players I'm happy for us to keep are Forster, Davies (for this season), Skipp, Maddison and Kane. Still need 3 more and those remaining options are not good ones.

The £50m was made up by a journalist who in the same article said we wouldn't pay that anyway.

Considering on the Left we have the Goal threat of Son and the creativity of Soloman, it makes sense having the on the right the goal threat of Johnson and the creativity of Deki

I personally like Johnson…think when we were previously liked at about 15m-20m it would have been a no brainer, but at 45-50 in cash it’s a no….

however…

our squad is massive, and as disappointing as it is to see Spence out the door if he isn’t in the plans then back the team and move him on. If Forest are interested in Spence at 15m-ish and Rodon at 7-8m to offset that cost a little…maybe even Bryan Gil on loan?? I could palette that a lot more.

my main concern is there is little interest it seems in a lot of our periphery players, and If we have scouted Johnson extensively, and there’s a deal to be done then I wouldn’t hate it, offers a lot of flexibility and something different to Kulu…

reminders as well that 5 subs a game, gives you options to really really change it up, and getting the game time in for a lot of players shouldn’t be as hard as people think

Gil, Perisic
Gil is out until October/November, correct? As good as Ivan has looked in preseason, I think still very much up in air as to whether he’ll still be here.

Regardless, going to require some real decisions for the non-HG roster spots. hard to see a scenario where we have room for both these guys in that 17.

He's fast and that's about it. Never been impressed with him and don't think he'll improve enough to fit in a top team.

I just don’t get it tbh, he’s never looked good 1v1 and that is what we really need on the wings. The only player we have who is particularly good at it is Solomon. Beyond that he just doesn’t excel at any particular field. He’s just “decent”. As I’ve said before, he makes very little sense to me for the current system and it feels a lot like a player we want just because he’s HG.

He’s got good pace but can slow himself down to pick the right pass, his crossing is good. I actually think someone who threatens in behind without the ball is needed more than someone who wants the ball to feet all the time. Our front four/five all do that. Kulu, Solomon, like to feel the ball. Kane and even Son now like to come towards the ball a lot of the time.

Imo Johnson would stretch the pitch for us, will give Maddison and Kane a passing option in behind and would make us less predictable.

Tottenham could offer Djed Spence and Joe Rodon to Nottingham Forest as part of negotiations for £50m-rated Brennan Johnson

  • Johnson is wanted by several sides with Brentford seeing two bids rejected
  • Spence and Rodon aren't expected to play key roles in Tottenham's season
  • Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz, meanwhile, have started their medicals
Tottenham may offer Djed Spence and Joe Rodon in talks for Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson who is valued at £50million.

Several Premier League sides are interested in Johnson, but Forest aren't keen to budge on their asking price for the forward.

Brentford have already seen bids rejected - the latest £40million - with it unclear if they will go in again as they search for another forward.

Spence and Rodon, meanwhile, aren't expected to play a key role for Ange Postecoglou's side this campaign and may leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

Spence spent the second half of last season on loan in France with Nice, while Rodon spent the year at Rennes.

A move back to Nottingham would mark a sensational return to the club he spent the 2021-22 season with, playing a key role as Steve Cooper's side were promoted back to the Premier League.

He earned a permanent move to Tottenham from Middlesbrough on the back of the campaign, but then-manager Antonio Conte criticised the move and he's made just six appearances for the club so far.

Decent deal for all parties to be fair
