we dont need another RB, we need cover for LB!

we have 2 RB's still at the club and one on loan at Villa, would be pointless to sign him especial as we have alot better than him

There's only 2 reasons why I will want Neville.

1) Corluka going for loads more money than what we paid for
and,
2) HR thinks Walker will be ready next season and Neville is just a back up for the rest of this season

I'm amazed at the negativity towards this signing. He has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premiership for a number of years and he can play in several positions including left back, which will give us back up for Assou Ekotto.

Okay he's not Phillip Lahm, but there is a slight over reaction on here.

Good back up for a year or two and then we will need to do it all over again, we should be looking at younger players who will be able to come through and be our LB in afew years and not one who will hardly get a game and then just leave.... pointless and waste of money

I'm not against this either. I'm sure he used to play left back for Utd so he can act as cover there if needed. He's not a bad either although he is dirty.

It seems HR is trying to overhaul the mentality of the club. This begins on the training ground. With experienced players who work hard in training like Beckham, Gallas, Phil Neville etc the atmosphere at the club can be completely professional.

Bassong, Dawson, Walker, Huddlestone, Bale, Lennon, Townsend, Parrett, Bostock and many more can potentially make a great team. Signings like Neville can be an important building block in making sure their mentality is right from the beginning of their professional careers.

Signing Andy Booth is a disaster, this really isn't.

He's brutally attacked Bale in two games we've played them in, I don't want him marking him in training every day. Thug.

I actually think it would be a shrewd move (putting on my tin hat here) as he can cover a range of positions and is a real leader. Adding a bit more experience for the second half of the season could prove a good move.

Neville is no world beater by any stretch but he's a solid Premier League player with mounds of experience. The sort of player who will scrap to the death.

Dont get me wrong I am not exactly excited by it but dont get all the extreme negativity by it either.

I'm the same. As my above post states neville can be a useful player both for cover and professionalism. If we don't get him then I'm sure I'll get over it but he could be a useful signing.

Sound business sense. Sell Corluka for a decent sum, get neville in for next to nothing. Experience and leadership both in training and on the field. He can play left back, right back, CM and at a push CB.

What do we need? A holding midfielder who won't give the ball away, cover for left back, and a winning mentality. No brainer.

The first of the Beckham recommendations!!!!!!!

How old is Neville?? Wasn't he Prime Minister during the War?

I like him though. Great winning mentality and oodles of Premiership experience with versatility to boot (Bale).

Harry will do whatever it takes to give this squad the best possible chance and more importantly he knows were we need to improve and is judgement isn't clouded.

I think many dont like Neville but deep down might concede that he would improve our squad.
