Who had the toughest task yesterday ? O'hara. When I saw our back 4 I thought we would need to score 6 to stay in the cup. A raw midfielder given the job that so many full backs have failed to do - staying with Ronaldo.
O'hara got it right , had a great game and Ronaldo's penalty and Cerny's error gave him 2 goals that he did not deserve. O'hara also got forward to good effect and has a good left foot !
I would be happy to see him given a few games at LB after that performance and he might save us a lot of money .
Any thoughts ?

I'd rather him in midfield, but he did well enough against arguably the best wing forward in the world at the moment.

I think Jenas and Tainio should be given some games to cement their understanding so I don't really see O'hara getting too many games in MF . Lee on the other hand has not impressed me in recent games. Maybe he needs a rest ?

You have to credit Malbranque for keeping Ronaldo quiet as well.

He tracked back a lot and because of this we didn't see him going forward as much. Played well there, but isn't an option as a full time LB for me.

Exactly. If O'hara was left alone with Ronaldo it would have been carnage. The fact that Malbranque doubled up on CR with O'hara has a lot to do why CR was relatively quiet.

I doubt O'hara will be good enough. Time will tell. I personally think his game is far too exploitable in the center of midfield. He is too slow to play on the wings, therefore, he may become a LB.

Teemu for me is our Player of the Season. He's been awesome on the left flnak, bearing in mind he aint a left winger / midfielder.

Let's not get too carried away. Granted he played quite well and the fact that he came through the ranks makes it more pleasing. But at the moment, he can only be regarded as a good utility player in the squad, and if we were to buy someone for such a role, it shouldn't be more than 4 million quids. So he might have saved us exactly that much; and in these days, this cannot be considered a lot in the transfer market.

I've been impressed by O'Hara thus far, he's a tough adaptable player that shows a lot of promise in terms of offense and defense--remember the Portsmouth match at Fratton Park in particular. I'm not sure if he is a natural defender though...

Teemu for president of the US of A?

O'Hara is an intelligent player who showed the other night that even playing against a superior opponent it is all about, anticipation, positioning and footwork. BTW TT hasn't actually left back from what I can remember.
