I mean technically, Poch has spent near enough the same and we've had much success (no trophies at least). If we look at both ends of the rope, we aren't better off at this end of it.

That's ignoring the fact that managers very, very, rarely are the ones spending the money - at United it seems that Woodward supplies and ships out players, and JM has made it known many times that they players they bought weren't the ones he wanted.

I think big clubs spend big money because it's what's expected of them, and they often do it badly.

Poch's spending is nowhere near the same as Mourinho whichever way you look at it, and that's the same wherever Mourinho's been other than Porto.

He needs money to succeed. Unless we have a dramatic change of approach from the top, he would be our worst manager for a long time.

Mourinho would throw his own Mum under the bus if he was in the rut we were currently in. First sign of things going pear-shaped and every excuse will come out about budget, players, him trying to change the identity of the club etc. I think it'll get toxic quick. Mourinho 2.0 or whatever fucking version he'll be when he next takes over someone won't last.

Maybe he'll keep a few more senior players around but I fear the fallout from him will take us years to get over.

Give me Naglesmann, I had no idea who he was until about 5 hours ago, now I have watch a 3 min video on his tactics I know he is the man to replace poch.......

On a serious note though, watching that video made him sound exactly like Poch in his earlier days when he actually had enthusiasm for the job.

Funny you say that because the mess we are in now currently under pochs guidance could take years to get over ! You won’t mention that though will you hmmmm

I wonder how well a 32 year old manager will go over with the geezers in the stands?

Though Nagelsmann is relatively inexperienced, his tactically flexibility and acumen are pretty special. All roads led to Bayern for him but if we've got the slightest chance and Poch does go, I hope we move for a manager like him or Ten Hag. Think he'd work wonders with a squad that's lost its way and looking to be reinvigorated. People may question whether he can transfer over to the Prem but I think he'd fine.

Doubt he'll come but hey ho.

Yes I can read.
You said he needs money to succeed shortly after saying he didn’t spend much at Porto, or words to that effect.

how does that work then?

So you think the fact that in one of his five jobs he did it without money (and let's face it Poch was one game away from matching that) means he's right for a club that doesn't spend money?

Come on...

True but I wasn't advocating for Poch to stay in that post, more IMO the increased risk of a longer slide if we replaced him with Mourinho. There probably would be an initial new manager bounce back under him but it wouldn't last long.

That’s why I mentioned that his remit wouldn’t necessarily be to win the league, as it has been at every other club he’s been at.
It’s unrealistic under our current owners.

Any trophy should be considered a success, and I don’t think he’d need hundreds of millions to do that.

We spend a lot of money for "a club that doesn't spend money" o_O

Either that or we did well in the raffle where they were giving away £1bn+ worth of stadium and facilities.

As for Leipzig they're a team with a lot of money but no identity and no prestige. They're an interesting project, nothing more. They're surely a means to an end for almost everyone involved whether it's players or coaching staff.

dont know much about it but I’m struggling to understand why that is less attractive than us?

the only important thing there is the money to build a team and it sounds as if they have it?

we certainly don’t (or don’t spend as if we have it)

The stadium and facilities have nothing to do with the success of the manager (in a direct sense anyway).

Our net spending on the playing squad has been nowhere near what Mourinho has spent on all of his squads since Porto.

So my point remains. If he was to be a success at Spurs we'd have to dramatically change our approach and basically spend our way to success.

The only prem manager outside the top 6 + Leicester I'd take is Nuno. None of the rest are good enough, not yet at least. That being said, I do like Wilder.

I'm in 2 minds, if I knew there was money available for additions I would go with Mourinho, he is still a big draw for players, and he must feel he has a point to prove so should be motivated. Plus I want a ruthless bast*rd to kick out that deadwood.

On the other hand, if the budget is tight, we need someone who can garner respect, be a great motivator and reinvigorate the players. So maybe Klinsmann would be a shout? Club legend, fans should get behind him.
